You priced out respite care once. Saw the hourly rate, closed the tab, and decided you’d just keep doing it yourself.

A lot of caregivers end up right there, especially when they make too much for Medicaid. GUIDE, a Medicare program for dementia families, doesn’t look at your income at all.

If your loved one has Original Medicare Parts A and B and a dementia or Alzheimer’s diagnosis, they may be eligible. Families caring for someone with moderate to severe dementia can get up to $2,625 a year, which covers up to 80 hours of respite care. Nothing out of pocket.

Caregivers don’t get to call out. Fever or flu. Doesn’t matter. Somebody still needs their meds at 8, and if we don’t do it, nobody will.
