Alumni Spotlight: John McIntyre ’13

From energy law to agriculture, John has built a career connected to the industries and communities that shaped him. After practicing in Texas, New Mexico, and California and later working in-house, John returned home to the Texas Panhandle.

Today, John McIntyre Law, PLLC assists clients with estate planning, small business, natural resources, and rural ranching and farming matters. He also serves as acting county attorney for Hemphill County.

John will join us at the Amarillo CLE on September 25 to discuss how rapid data center growth is reshaping groundwater, electric supply, and land-use considerations across the Texas Panhandle.

TTU Law Alumni Spotlight: Allison Clayton ‘07

Allison is an adjunct professor and director of the Innocence Clinic at @ttuprobono. With years of experience as a criminal defense attorney, Allison specializes in appellate and post-conviction litigation, with many complete exonerations for her clients. Allison has served as the Deputy Director of the @innocencetexas for over 10 years and has helped bring justice to many clients who were wrongfully convicted.

One of the most recent exonerations Allison and the #TechLaw students in the Innocence Clinic – Addison May, Linzy Hill, and Sarah Dickie – worked on was that of James Harry Reyos. Although it was proven that he was not in Texas at the time of the murder, James Reyos was convicted in the death of Father Patrick Ryan, a closeted Catholic priest in Odessa, Texas in 1983. After 40 years, James Reyos was exonerated in 2023 with the help of the Odessa Police Department, the Innocence Project of Texas, and the Innocence Clinic at Texas Tech University.

We are proud to have Allison as a Tech Law Grad and of the work she does for our students! You can see Allison and the students who worked on James’ case in the documentary, @nightinwesttexas, which is streaming at the link in our bio. This image is a promotional graphic for Texas Tech University School of Law. It features a monochrome photograph of a smiling person, highlighted against a red and black background. The text reads: "Alumni Spotlight: Allison Clayton '07." Additional text highlights Allison Clayton as an Adjunct Professor and Director of the Innocence Clinic, noting their contributions to appellate and post-conviction reversals. taken in Texas Tech University School of Law by @ttu_law

"I saw you in my dream last night." If your dream was of us outside of the law building, then it probably wasn't us. 🫢 A photo of the TTU School of Law building with tulips outside. A text conversation overlays the photo with the following: I saw you in my dream last night!; Was I in class?; ...no; Then it wasn't me! taken in Texas Tech University School of Law by @ttu_law
