I talk about fatherhood, business, ultra running, creative living, relationships and the nervous system work required to bring it all together.

Nothing like a birthday to have you stop and reflect on life.

This last year has been huge one. To think a year ago I was still living on the Sunshine Coast in our tiny home trips me out a bit tbh.

Time is doing strange things. It almost feels like an alternate universe.

Since then I sold that tiny home and left the sunny coast,
Launched a new business,
Spent time in WA with family,
Packed and prepped to leave Aus indefinitely,
Spent two months in Bali and facilitated a family centered retreat that was once just a dream,
Spent 3 months in Vietnam and found a new favorite place on earth,
Navigated a separation and faced off with the depths of grief and all that comes with that,
Served a LOT of coaching clients through 1-1 coaching and group programs,
Closed down a business,
Grounded back in to south west WA,
Solidified and deepened important friendships,
Ran a 65km ultra with 3000m elevation,
Facilitated another Men’s Weekend,
Went on the first weekend bender I’ve had with the my siblings in YEARS at the Wave Rock Weekender,

And all of this doesn’t even touch the surface on the inner journey I’ve been on.

Wild times.

Despite the huge challenges this year has presented, I wake up every day knowing I’m already winning because of the abundance I have in my life.

The rebuild has been quiet. The new chapter vibes are strong.

Grateful.
Happy Birthday to me 🥳 by @tullyoconnor

I’ve visualized this exact moment for the last 3 months.

65 beautiful/brutal km’s in the bag.

Showing these boys that we can do hard things.

They both did the Kids Dash event and did so well.

What an experience. by @tullyoconnor

Some thoughts 💭 on grief.

I think it’s wild that something so innately human can have us feeling isolated from other humans. by @tullyoconnor

Training update for my first official Ultra Marathon.

65km with 2700m ascent and descent.

Excited and nervous.

Loving the training. Loving the process.

New passion has been unlocked. by @tullyoconnor

“95% of able-bodied people can complete an ultra marathon”.

That was the line from @holistichybrid that peaked my interest enough to (after a couple of years “thinking about it”) pull the trigger and commit to my first ultra.

Last year I gave myself 35 days to train for a 50km run, and got it done.

A few months ago I started training again and now I’m 6 weeks time I’ve got my first official ultra happening at @transcendtrails

65km solo.
2700m elevation.

I’m nervous and excited. Always a good combo.

If you’ve “been thinking about” running an ultra, make yourself known in the comments below 🏃‍♂️ by @tullyoconnor

Nothing hits quite like the West Australian bushland. IYKYK.

The bird song.
The sun filtering in through the peppy trees.
The soft sound of the creek starting to run for the first time this Winter.
The cold water of the Indian Ocean a few minutes down the road.

As soon as I landed back here in the southwest it was the biggest exhale and I’ve been slowing down since then.

Lots of walking.
Lots of sitting.
Lots of listening.

After 5 years of on not calling this place home it feels phenomenal to be grounding back in for a little while.

Stillness. Simplicity.

These are two guiding principles that I’m anchoring in right now.

I have zero doubt the desire to travel will return with full force. It’s still a part of the bigger vision.

But right now, you couldn’t pay me to get on a plane.

Stillness. Simplicity. by @tullyoconnor

No place like home.

Ever since we made the decision to come back to the South West for a few months I’ve been fantasizing about diving into this water.

It’s been about 5 years since we’ve done a winter here and I’ve been craving it.

Maybe it’s my Irish heritage but five months in the south East Asian heat and humidity was pushing my limits and to say this cold Indian Ocean water is medicinal is an understatement.

There’s something so grounding about being on home turf. Grateful to have a solid chunk of time to reconnect with this part of the world.

One of my favorite parts of traveling has ALWAYS been the contrast it creates. Because contrast breeds appreciation. There’s this natural strong sense of gratitude that becomes present. by @tullyoconnor

📍 Hoi An, Vietnam 🇻🇳
A collection of moments from a beautiful chapter.

From our first morning here we knew we had found a special spot. I deep exhale.

The colours, the coffee, the people, the peace.

A safe and welcoming place that felt alive. Busy coffee spots on every corner.
Big smiles from the locals.

Cruising through the rice patty fields on the scooter. Feeling free.

A place to slow down, for the first time in a long time.

Sitting and sipping ca phè den with my journal in what became my favorite cafe there.

The banh mi and beef pho 🤌🏻

Sweaty no air con gym sessions at the local gym with the boys.

Early morning and late night runs to dodge the heat.

Climbing Marble Mountain with the boys.

Riding the Golden Loop solo. Those Mountains and that experience was nourishment I didn’t know I needed.

Travel transforms you and Hoi An held space for that for me in a big way. I’m leaving a different man than when I arrived.

We’ll never live here year round (I can only handle so much of that South East Asian heat and humidity) but it’ll always be a special spot that we return to often. by @tullyoconnor
