In our latest In-Studio feature, TurningArtist Dorothea Sandra shares how her artistic upbringing, interest in neuroscience, and appreciation for the natural world have shaped her artistic practice.

A Michigan-based painter and certified evidence-based design artist, Dorothea’s work draws on scientific research to explore how visual art can evoke positive emotions and support well-being. Her work also reflects her Northern Woodlands Native American and French-Métis heritage, alongside her commitment to environmental sustainability.

Her approach offers an interesting perspective on how combining artistic expression and science can shape the way viewers engage and connect with art.

“Social prescribing” is gaining momentum in the U.S., and recent research in the field provides data for designing for sustained well-being.

Research shows that participating in arts-based activities can have long-term wellness benefits, but the efficacy of these social “doses” relies on consistent, sustained engagement with art. In our latest Design Matters, we explore how these findings can be directly applied to designing the spaces where we live, work, and receive care.

The office lobby doesn’t have to be generic. Working with commercial real estate firm @trinitypartners , TurningArt curated art collections for five separate lobby spaces at Perimeter Park.

With each rotation, the theme and aesthetic vision are reimagined to align with current tenant preferences, informed by TurningArt’s voting tool. In each space, the artwork complements key colors from the decor and architectural details, creating a cohesive experience while giving each lobby distinct character.

TurningArt Art Advisor Niamh Carty and our project partners at Trinity Partners share more about the curatorial process behind the collection at the link in bio. by @turningart

After complications from open heart surgery in 2013, Virginia-based photographer Philip Bogdan lost the ability to practice photography.

Instead of abandoning his passion, Bogdan reimagined his process, adopting new strategies and slowly relearning his craft thanks the powers of neuroplasticity and persistence.

For over a decade now, Northern Virginia’s Little Hunting Creek has served as Bogdan’s “Walden Pond.” Our latest In-Studio feature explores Philip’s journey and the generations of wildlife he’s has captured throughout his career.

For wealth management firms, trust is foundational. But when every office relies on the same visual language to communicate credibility, those cues can become less meaningful.

The physical environment is part of how clients experience a firm. A strong design identity creates consistency across locations while leaving room for details that reflect the clients and communities each office serves.

Thoughtfully curated art can support both. A collection can carry a cohesive visual language across offices while incorporating local artists, recognizable subject matter, and regional perspectives that give each space a distinct sense of place.

As client expectations evolve across generations, this flexibility offers firms a way to remain recognizable while creating spaces that continue to resonate.

Our latest Design Matters article explores how art and spatial differentiation can strengthen the client experience and support long-term trust.

This rotation features @brianemonaghansculptor ‘s “Dancing”, a 200 lb one-of-a-kind piece that serves as the focal point in the front lobby. Jason Messinger’s ceramics bring color and depth to the room as light hits the pieces throughout the day.
