CHILDREN'S WORKSHOPS // Cardboard Castles & Castle Drawing

TUESDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2026
JAMFACTORY AT SEPPELTSFIELD

Step into a world of knights, dragons, and daring adventures as you create your very own miniature medieval castle!

Using recycled cardboard boxes, tubes, and a variety of textured papers and card, you'll design and build a unique fortress full of character. Artist Deb will provide all the materials, tools, glues, and the ever-popular Chomp Saw, making construction easy, safe, and fun.

Add towers, turrets, drawbridges, dragons, flags, and any other imaginative details you can dream up. At the end of the workshop, everyone's castles will come together to create one spectacular medieval kingdom.

Want to keep the adventure going? Book yourself into the following Castle Drawing Workshop, where your handcrafted castle becomes the inspiration for your own medieval masterpiece on paper.

Imagine a world of castles, and daring adventures as you create your own medieval masterpiece!
Bring along your cardboard castle if you made one in the Cardboard Castles workshop, or choose from a collection of castle models or reference images provided on the day. Artist Deb Twining will guide you through fun and easy drawing techniques as you explore paint, pastel, and charcoal to capture towers, turrets and drawbridges. Then let your imagination take over! Add brave knights, fiery dragons, mysterious forests, or even a friendly giant to create your own castle story on paper. Experiment with colour, texture, line, shading, and expressive mark making while building confidence in your artistic skills.
This workshop is perfect for young artists who love to draw, paint, and imagine.

Suitable for children 5 years to teens. Guardians and caregivers are welcome to book in and participate.

COME AND VOLUNTEER WITH US! Hangout, weave, have a yarn and join in this amazing First Nations Weaving project by Sonya, Suzy and Sarah Smith, artists of the South East. Made in collaboration with artists Tony Hannan, Deb Twining and many members of the community.
Friday the 18th, Saturday 19th, Thursday 24th or 25th of September at Fabrik Lobethal. In the Mill. 11-5pm.
This is an OSCA arts project.

We had the cutest screen printing session in the little kids (5-8yr olds) class yesterday. Here is a brief snippet into an everyday lesson. Lots of fun chatter and investigation into new art processes.
Here I’m assisting a student to print. Another student is the taking the video and under instructions not to film our faces, thus the comments about hands being our pictures. The rest of the class watches on seeing the results for the first time. Now they are all super excited to print their own stencils onto T-shirts and bags. This print of a hamburger is on a Tshirt for their dad, I think he will love it!
