Happy 3rd birthday to our sweet #GracieLou!! Here’s an ode to her Resting Grouch Face. 😂

We adopted Gracie about 9 months after I lost my soul dog. She was only 7-weeks old, and was listed as a “lab mix” at the rescue. We assumed she’d have some of the usual rescue breeds mixed in, so we got her DNA tested. Turns out, she doesn’t have a speck of lab in her (though everyone assumes she’s a lab!).

That’s how we learned about Maremma Sheepdogs (she’s 50%), a Livestock Guardian Dog breed! And she has allllll the personality traits of one. They’re basically just smaller Great Pyrs (peep that demanding Pyr Paw on one of the slides).

Problem though - they bark A LOT when outside. Especially at night. This was not ideal when we lived in a suburban neighborhood. So now we joke that we bought our dog a farm.😂😜

So, thanks Gracie Louise for motivating us to move to the country and for protecting our flocks and herds so fiercely! We definitely know she has keep predators away from our property, and we know God put her in our lives before we ever knew that we needed her!

She’s such a Daddy’s Girl and is obsessed with Ian (also in this slide deck). I’m glad he finally has a soul dog too!😍🥰

Team Gracie or Team Bruno-the-Husky-Mix?

Gracie hates cold weather and wears a coat when it’s under freezing. She lives for a nap in the sun on a warm day.

Bruno prefers snow and freezing temps and never wants to be outside in the summer. 😂

🥰 Meet Bruno. 🥰

We adopted this cutie today from @olddominionhumanesociety! They think he’s about 13 weeks old, and maybe a Shepherd/Husky mix! #GracieLou is obsessed, and they’re becoming fast friends. 🥰 The @tworvapups handle is back!

My mantle is symmetrical again too. 🙌🏼🥰

🎉🎂 Happy 1st Birthday, @graciegramrva!!! 🎂🎉

Going from two senior dogs to a 7-week old puppy is no small feat, but I love being your momma, sweet girl! She is so different from my past dogs, way more stubborn, less easy to train, and apparently that’s just a #maremma thing. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ But man, does she love hugs. 🥰 She will do anything for “hugs”, which is really just her sitting and bowing her head low, pressing her forehead against my legs, and getting allll the head rubs and scritches. 🥰 It’s precious, even when she is making me crazy. 🤪

She’s still very much a puppy, but loves to snuggle, loves to be a pillow princess, and loves a good chew toy. 💜 Love this girl so much!! Forever grateful @shesabrinkhouse found her at @goochlandshelteradoptioncenter and shared her with me!!! 💜 by @tworvapups

My sweet #GracieLou and I went to the @henricohumane’s Pet Expo at @richmondraceway today and she was spoiled rotten!!! Spending as much time with my girl these days as possible. She got to meet a couple sweet pups (including Astro who I almost took home with me. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂😍🥰), got lots of belly rubs, tons of treats, and ended the expo with her favorite @saltypawsrva ice cream!!! Then we went to @loweshomeimprovement to buy a new dryer because ours died, and @target for our order pickup. This girl is going everywhere possible with me from now on! She’s so good in public (thank you @dogloversrva!)!! 💜💜💜 by @tworvapups

💔😭So grateful we got to be your parents for the last 9 years of your life, sweet #DieselBug. God gave you to me in the coolest way, and I know you were meant to be ours.

After I lost my hound dog Iris years ago, I wanted to get a friend for #MasonBear because he was super sad. Ian didn’t really want a second dog. He had a list of stipulations if we were going to get one. That list was: a black German shepherd, around 2-3 years old, and FREE. I told him that would never happen. Even the rescue GSDs were $600+.

Then my friend Alicia shared a post from her friend. A family situation required them to rehome their 3-year old GSD. I immediately called, and asked the price, and the woman said “oh, we just want to make sure he goes to a good home! We aren’t charging anything!”. 🤯

So we drove to Keysville the next day, and #DieselBug immediately jumped into the backseat of our Dodge Neon like “hey mom and dad, where are we going?!”.

I got the flu that weekend, and he laid by my side in bed the whole time. He was my big spoon and was the best nurse ever. He became my shadow over the next 9 years. Who knew I’d cry over no longer being interrupted in the bathroom by his big head busting through the door?! 😭 Man, that dog hit his head on everything. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

He was Mason’s annoying little brother, and then when we got #GracieLou 7 months ago, he got to experience life as the older brother with an annoying little sister. 😂🐶 He trained her well though, and she was obsessed with him.

He was the world’s laziest #GSD. Hated walks. We got a huge backyard for him, and all he wanted was the couch. But he absolutely LOVED car rides. In 2020, we took a lot of family car trips because there wasn’t much else to do for a while there! We loved getting him in the car and driving around because he was just so happy!

He was truly the most well-behaved, loyal, protective, loving boy ever. All he wanted was to be with his people. And that’s what we gave him. He was the best boy and I’m so grateful, even through the heartbreak of losing him. 💔😭🌈
