Miguel Lugo was nine when the streets claimed him as a gang member. Later, facing a life sentence, he became honest with himself and told the whole truth.

Having rebuilt his own life, he now helps other former gang members put their lives back together. To a lot of young men who grew up on the same streets he did, Miguel is the first living proof they have ever seen that a life can be turned around, and that a way out is real.

Kate Foster started gymnastics at six. Cancer came for her twice. She came right back both times and rebuilt every skill from the ground up, on a prosthetic, with no guarantee any of it would work.

Maria Bello @officialmariabello plays Claire, who shields 20-year-old Lucy from all the bad in the world. When harsh reality shatters their small-town Ohio life, Lucy travels to Italy in the hope of finding herself through the work of Federico Fellini. 🇮🇹

Maria is an acclaimed American actress, producer, and activist, celebrated for her powerful performances across film and television and her unwavering dedication to women’s rights. We were incredibly fortunate to collaborate with her on @insearchoffellini.

@insearchoffellini was a truly wild and wonderful project.

Director and founder of @txlfilms, Taron Lexton @taronlexton has always had a deep love for Italy, having spent time there growing up, and long dreamed of finding an excuse to film there. 🇮🇹

Over ten years ago, in 2014, when Nancy Cartwright @nancycartwright sat down with Taron over coffee and shared her extraordinary true experiences pursuing Federico Fellini in her youth–which had inspired her screenplay–he was electrified.

Like most people, he had seen a few of Fellini’s films, but he seized this opportunity to watch every single one of them and began to discover the complex and fascinating world of Fellini himself, and saw how strikingly it intertwined with Nancy’s own story.

As the cast began to assemble, including the brilliant trio of Ksenia Solo @therealksolo, Maria Bello @officialmariabello, and Mary Lynn Rajskub @marylynnrajskub, each brought new layers of depth and richness to the film. The process was incredibly collaborative, and was an amazing evolution from Nancy’s original experience, to the screenplay, to the daily discoveries of filming in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

The film grew steeped in authenticity and symbolism, a dreamscape of real Italian locations, true stories, fantasies, and Fellini’s own films and pathos. It is a love letter to Italy, an homage to Fellini, and an exploration of Nancy’s beautiful true story.

At its core, it’s simply a story about growing up, and about the thrilling and sometimes terrifying few inches between childhood and adulthood.

“How’s she going to take care of herself?” Lucy’s aunt and Claire’s no-nonsense sister, Kerri (Mary Lynn Rajskub @marylynnrajskub) wants to know. “Who would hire a 20 year-old who acts like a 13 year-old?”

Mary Lynn is a comedian, actress and writer, best known for playing “Chloe” on the Fox drama 24 and “Gail the Snail” from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

20-year-old Lucy, @therealksolo, has never kissed a boy, never had a job, and never really had friends. Her best—and perhaps only—friend is her mother Claire, @officialmariabello, who has shielded her from all the bad in the world, including Claire’s own terminal illness. Claire’s no-BS sister, Kerri, @marylynnrajskub, urges Claire to break her silence and tell Lucy the truth before it’s too late.

Lucy, aware that something is up with Mom, leaps into adulthood and vespas to Cleveland for an ill-fated job interview. There, she stumbles into a bizarre and wonderful festival of the films of Federico Fellini, the great Italian director, where she sees his Oscar-winning “La Strada” (1954) and is instantly swept away. But this movie doesn’t have the happy ending she’s used to, and the cleverly enigmatic tragicomedy leaves Lucy restless and aching for answers. In a burst of courage, she leaves her small-town home to find the filmmaker and unlock his mysterious enigma and her own.

What follows is a strange and spectacular journey through the romantic dreamscapes of Italy, as Lucy encounters not just characters from Fellini’s films, but the fantasies and nightmares that defined him. Her journey of discovery and life, counterpoints Claire’s gradual decline into death. Apart but connected, they fulfill both of their dreams as truth and fiction intertwine into the ultimate Felliniesque journey. 🇮🇹
