The weather outside has turned cold, grey, and dreary. So I figured I’d make my own sunshine today with the @montresbianchi x @deepsea.edc JB300 Profonde, on this Canary yellow tropic from @wesandwatches. I think it worked.☀️👌🏻

Been giving the @marathonwatch HANK (high abrasion neoprene Kevlar) strap a proper thrashing since receiving it a week ago.

This is a uniquely “me” specific problem, but being an active wheelchair user, I can typically tell within a week whether I will ultimately end up wearing out a strap. “High abrasion” is my MO.

The HANK strap does a stellar job of not only resisting abrasion, but keeping a watch in place. In this case a @tornekrayville TR-660; one of my stoutest pieces.

Well done Marathon. Whether you realize it or not, you designed a fantastic wheelchair friendly strap.👊🏻♿️

My grandfather was many things. Husband, father, grandfather, entrepreneur, inventor, explorer, amateur archaeologist, Pan Am pilot, and general adventurer. He forged the archetype I strive to emulate to this day. Of the litany of airplanes he owned and flew over the years, my favorite was his DC-3. He’d long retired from flying by the time I came along, but his stories were legendary. When he passed back in the early aughts, a flight of pelicans flew over in the missing man formation. I’ve had my pelicans for a few years now, but I wanted to memorialize the man in his heyday, as opposed to his passing. As such, N407D is now emblazoned on my arm. My grandfather is flying with me.

Miss you Grandpa. Blue skies up there!

Simple joys:

Pints with the lads.

Deeply pedantic conversations about intricate little machines.

Laughter in regard to the aforementioned topic.

Bartenders questioning how in the world an Englishman living in Wales, a Coloradan, a Michigander, a St. Louisian, and two Virginians wound up drinking together, in Canada.

00:55 decaf espresso.

What a peculiar but gratifying thing, this hobby.

Tomorrow I’m venturing off, for six days. Out of the country for the preponderance of it. The last time I took this much time off, much less left the country, was eight years ago.

I have no idea what I’m doing on this path, nor where it will take me, but it feels as though the last near decade of doing…. Whatever it is that I do, is finally paying off.

Work hard.

Adapt.

Don’t be a dick.

Adventure, and play with watches I guess?
