The last Boy Dinner for a bit. Another shrimp-faux-lobster roll, this time with Duke's mayonnaise as the base, and a Cuban bread loaf rather than the baguette. Served with @grgichhills Chardonnay 2023, as I showed it to a couple of customers today so it was open. by @tyler_haas

Boy Dinner Night: Steakhouse edition! Brought to you by blue cheese and bacon - I cut up some bacon strips into lardons, sauteed them in the cast iron pan to cook them and render the fat, so I could cook the steak in the bacon fat. Strip steak, classic wedge salad with celery and carrot for color and texture, baked potato, and everything had blue cheese and bacon on it (I even broiled the steak topping to melt it, and also crisp up some panko breadcrumbs I topped it with). Served with 2023 @maxvillewinery Napa Cabernet. by @tyler_haas

My steak got WAAAY over cooked by my sous vide circulator.... So I pivoted. Yes, I gave Penny some mushrooms, don't worry. I just didn't bother with a picture. by @tyler_haas

The first Boy Dinner that was disappointing. I slightly over-toasted the breadcrumbs for the topping on the scallops, o everything tasted a little burnt. And making the risotto per the package directions left it watery. And the sake, while tasty, was too sweet and the rice solids buffered the acidity, so it came off as sweet and flat (it would've been a great cocktail drink). C'est la vie. by @tyler_haas
