In the Fall 2025 issue of SDC JOURNAL, director Kristin Hanggi and choreographer Maxx Reed speak about the development of the new musical “It’s All Your Fault, Tyler Price!” and their journey to understand how some theatrical lighting design affects individuals with photosensitive epilepsy, in which exposure to flashing lights, strobe effects, and other intense visual stimuli can trigger seizure, migraines, or dizziness in people with epilepsy. Oh my goodness—what a blast we had bringing Tyler Price to San Diego for a special performance in early March!
There’s something so wild and wonderful about doing theater in a ballroom—but this one was extra special. We got to blend large-scale video with live performance and share the message of our show with a new audience deeply aligned with its values.

I just love this show. I love the people in it. Watching the young cast build real friendships and light up onstage brings me so much joy. Tyler Price continues to remind me how magical theater can be—how it connects, transforms, and inspires.

This new musical is a semi autobiographical true story of a special needs family. Lucy is a 12 year old girl with epilepsy and this story is told from her brother, Jackson’s perspective. Often times, kids who have siblings with special needs are overlooked or don’t have a voice. After an altercation with a bully Tyler Price, Jackson has to present his case to the school council. He finds his dad’s long lost original songs dealing with Lucy’s diagnosis. He decided to present this to the school as a musical as he unpacks the roadblocks that come with being in a special needs family.

This is a must see for any special needs or medically fragile family! It’s all your fault, Tyler Price will only be at @hudsontheatres through December 15.

We got invited to the special preview and talkback of the musical “It’s Not your fault Tyler Price”. This is a true story and has been in the making for 17 years 🤩 . It was such an honor to have been invited and we absolutely loved the whole play. It was very entertaining and funny. The story line is real life scenarios that happen on a daily basis.

The story:
This heartwarming new musical follows Jackson, a middle school boy with big feelings who’s in big trouble after punching his bullying classmate, Tyler Price, for mocking his sister, Lucy, after she sings about wanting a bat mitzvah. Lucy attends the same school, but in the special day class. She has epilepsy and related learning challenges – lots of them. Jackson’s principal insists Jackson explain himself to the entire school in order to avoid expulsion. With music he steals from his composer dad, Jackson stages a scrappy, heartfelt musical. Through each family member’s bravery, we watch healing begin for all.

MEET OUR CAST! ✨ Spotlight on Jenna Pastuszek playing Emma in IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT, TYLER PRICE! 🎶 Jenna Pastuszek (she/her) is a professional singer, actor, voiceover artist, musical theatre educator, MLB National Anthem singer (yes, she sang the National Anthem at Dodgers Stadium for Ohtani’s first homerun!), voice teacher at Innovative Voice Studio and mom to the best 2-year old on the planet! 💕 Born and raised outside of Philadelphia, PA, she began her career in the Big Apple before heading west during the pandemic to create the bi-coastal life of her dreams! 🌟
She loves contributing to new musical theatre and, thanks to the amazing Zach Spiegel, is thrilled to play Emma in IYFTP this fall opposite the very tall and very iconic CJ Eldred. 💫 She is a chocolate chip cookie enthusiast and is still on the hunt for the best that LA has to offer.
