WICKEDLY
Reimagining the music from the musical: Wicked

Here it is. My first jazz trio album at the age of 45. Worth the wait? Was anybody waiting?

Piano, bass and drums is my favorite of the combinations. Everyone knows their role. It’s like a married couple in the 1950s/2030s. The drums and bass merely are in a support role. The piano is bringing home the bacon and an air of self-importance.

I had a trio project in 2001 with Erik Kertes where we messed with the chords and the feel of Disney songs. Twenty four years later I find myself still wanting to mess with songs. Melody and Lyrics’ are protected by copyright. But harmony has always been the element that makes me swoon. It’s the glue, or the ‘wife’ if you will from a 1950s/2030s household.

Thanks to @timlefev @ryanmcdiarmid_ @tylerygraham @paullshill @cianthreetimes @bakerymastering for all their time and contributions. I couldn’t have done it without you. Well, who are we kidding? There’s so much talent in LA, I probably could have done this without you. But I’m sure it would be worse.
