In 2020 we were sitting at home like everyone else feeling stuck, restless, and like life was happening somewhere else.

We had never RVed. Not once.

But Chris works remotely, our girls were young, and we kept asking ourselves the same question. If not now, when?

So we bought an RV. Sold the life we had built. And drove away from it.

Chris was born and raised in Pennsylvania. Amanda grew up in Florida. We met in college, built a life together, and then blew it up in the best possible way.

There was one more thing about our story.

Chris has Type 1 Diabetes. So does our oldest daughter. Managing a chronic health condition from the road without a home base, without a consistent pharmacy, without a safety net, was the part that scared us most.

It turned out to be one of the most important parts of our story. Because if we can do this with T1D, you can probably do it with whatever’s holding you back too.

Five years later we’re still out here. Still figuring it out. Still choosing this life every single day.

We live in an Alliance RV toy hauler. The girls have their space in the back bedroom. Chris runs his business from the front bedroom. Amanda holds everything together.

This is actually our life. Not a highlight reel.

Swipe through to meet us and if any part of this sounds like the life you’ve been thinking about, hit follow. We’ll show you exactly what it looks like. 👇

Do you stop at @bucees or do you avoid the crowds?

We have never driven past one without actually stopping. There are some that are pretty hectic (Daytona Beach, St. Augustine, Sevierville) but we always stop.

Diesel is cheaper and the food is great.

We definitely spend what we save on diesel on food and snacks.

Let us know, are you team Buc-ees or not? 👇

Comment if you have experienced this as well 👇

If you need to hear from someone that it is OK to go after your dreams and your goals then hit that follow, because I will be here to support you 100%!

One thing you notice is how quickly your friends and family will NOT support you actually trying to go after something.

Anything other than normal is “weird” and most often you will get more hate than support.

Send this to someone who you know would understand all the feels in this post! 👉

For us, it’s not all about money. It’s about happiness. And freedom.

And sometimes, you may lose out on money you can have down the road
but what happens if you don’t get a chance to spend that money?

Make memories and don’t let every decision be a financial one!

We’ve hiked a lot of trails over the years, and somehow it’s always these same 7 people.

Every. Single. Time.

You’ve got the extremes of no eye contact to the overly friendly how ya doin’ hiker.

You know exactly who you’ve hiked with. You might even be one of them. No judgment. Okay, a little judgment.

So be honest. Which one are you? And tag the person you immediately thought of while watching.

People expect us to say yes without hesitating. The honest answer is more complicated than that.

Would we choose this life again if we had to start completely over?

Knowing everything now, the breakdowns, the tight spaces, the travel days that wreck you, the stuff we gave up to do this. Would we really sign up for all of it again?

Yes.

But not because it’s easy. We’d do it again because of what it gave us that we can’t get back any other way. Time together we would’ve missed. A front row seat to our kids growing up. A version of our family that only exists because we took the leap.

The hard parts are real. We just decided a long time ago that the hard parts were worth it.

So we’ll ask you. If you could start your whole life over, would you choose the path you’re on now? Tell us below.

Traveling the country full-time with 2 people with Type 1 Diabetes has a lot of extra work, but there are a few minor things we do that have a big impact.

Having this simple notice on our child’s seatbelt helps alert medical professionals that she has Type 1 Diabetes, which will change the way an emergency is handled.

Five and a half years in, and we learned most of this the hard way so you don’t have to.

Nobody hands you a manual when you go full-time. You figure it out through the breakdowns, the bad calls, and the days you question the whole thing. These are the lessons we wish someone had told us before we left.

Swipe through. And if one of these hits home, you’re not the only one.

Which of these did you learn the hard way too? Or what would you add to the list? Tell us below.

“Aren’t you scared of storms in an RV?”

Honestly? We’re probably more prepared than most people in a house.

Here’s how we handle bad weather on the road:

- We check the forecast constantly and plan our routes around it, not into it

- We’ve intentionally avoided tornado alley for 5.5 years of travel

- We keep a go bag ready, including Chris and our oldest daughter’s Type 1 Diabetes supplies, in case we ever have to move fast

- We know where we’re parked and what’s around us the second we set up

- We don’t travel into weather we can wait out

Being in the rig isn’t the risk. Being unprepared is.

Most storms end up being cozy nights inside. The serious ones, we typically see coming.

What scares you most about weather on the road?⛈

Tell me below. đŸ‘‡đŸ»
