Conto Slab is a distinct and distinctive Slab Serif typeface in eight weights. Another member of the Conto superfamily, Conto Slab was designed for idiosyncratic corporate identity, editorial design and advertising.

Conto Slab combines Conto’s minimalist and simplified forms and humanistic contrast with, you guessed it, slab serifs. The result is an unexpected and confident combination of genres with solidity, sportiness and independence.

Along with its constructed approach to lowercase letterforms, Conto Slab’s design features include a carefully structured increase in contrast. Almost non-existent in the Thin, weight and tension increase up to the Black.

Useful, but not easy to use! A quick look at one of our most popular articles about three completely different typefaces by Philipp Neumeyer.

There’s no question about it: non-linear typefaces, a nostalgic retro vibe, and subtle irregularities are trends in contemporary typography. But who really cares? Philipp would have created his three typefaces this way anyway: Yuni Slab, Ottessa, and Elma.

The three typefaces have two things in common. First, their attitude: You don’t have to follow trends to embody them. Second, their designer: They were all created by Philipp Neumeyer, a typeface designer who has won multiple TDC awards and is known for his unconventional ideas and a charmingly offbeat sense of style: “Ideally, I don’t design interchangeable, finely polished pop, but rather something with rough edges that at least polarizes people a bit.”

✨ The use of gender-neutral language in German remains an important and much-discussed issue. In the typographic design of gender-neutral language, there are many experimental approaches, as well as some more common ones. While these techniques are still being developed, some of our typefaces feature support for gender-neutral forms using the gender star symbol. Some of these are quite prominent, while others are more subtle. Either way: Sometimes a single star is enough to set an entire text in motion.

Actually, you don’t really need them anymore these days—there are plenty of alternative OpenType solutions.

But they’re just so beautiful! And we don’t want to completely forget the forms that have evolved over time, do we!?

Sometimes, the personal best letterform ends up in the archive.

For @ultra_rare_sarcoma_e.v, in collaboration with @serviceplan, we transformed the iconic cancer awareness ribbon into a typeface. This widely overlooked symbol has been transformed into a typeface of its own.

Numerous variants come before a font works. This is particularly true of unusual forms, where we explore extensively to find the perfect result. Take the v: calligraphic and curved, it is shaped like a flowing ribbon, which is conceptually fitting. However, within the full character set, it was too dominant. Ultimately, a less striking variant created a stronger overall effect.
