UAB’s MSHA program is once again ranked #1 in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Graduate Schools.

We’re incredibly proud to maintain this top ranking, a testament to the continued excellence of our faculty, students, and alumni. Recognition from our peers makes this honor especially meaningful and reflects a legacy of leadership that spans more than 60 years.

This achievement also highlights the program’s steady rise over time- advancing from #7 in 2009 to #5 in 2011, #2 in 2015, and earning the #1 spot in 2019, 2023, 2025, and 2026.

With great pride and humility, we are thrilled to announce that the 2025 US News & World Report rankings are out and UAB MSHA REMAIN’S #1!!!!!🏆🥇

This outstanding accomplishment reflects the commitment of UAB faculty, students, and alumni. The MSHA program has steadily moved up in the rankings over the past decade - advancing from #7 in 2009 to #5 in 2011 to #2 in 2015, and #1 in 2019, 2023 and again now in 2025.

The ranking is an acknowledgement of our commitment to provide an outstanding learning experience that includes excellent education, practice-relevant scholarly activity, and engaged alumni. Congratulations to our UAB MSHA team on winning the 31st Annual NAHSE Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition in Los Angeles, CA! 🏆 We are thrilled to announce this incredible win, led by Micah Dennis, Alan Gardner, and Chasity Hooker.

Through countless hours of preparation, teamwork, and dedication, these three delivered a standout performance on a national stage. Their talent, professionalism, and drive made our whole program proud.

A special shout-out to their faculty advisor, Dr. Jennings, for her mentorship and guidance throughout this journey. 👏

Congratulations to all of the participating teams. Healthcare leadership has a bright future!

What a great way to kick off the new school year — celebrating Class 61 as they forge their own path into administrative fellowship season, and welcoming Class 62 as our newest student ambassadors!

We recently hosted our annual Preceptors’ Conference, a three-day event that marks the start of the administrative residency search for our MSHA students. This year, 40 organizations joined us from across the country, and we’re so grateful to everyone who traveled to be part of it, connecting with our students through networking, roundtables, and interviews.

Thank you to our alumni who return each year as preceptors, sharing their experience and supporting the next generation of healthcare leaders, and to Guideway Care for their continued sponsorship. And a special thank you to our own Department of Health Services Administration team, especially Randa Hall, Dr. Ozaydin, and Dr. Jennings for the work that goes into making this conference a success every year.

Five months in, the Open Doors Initiative is already making an impact. Through the ABE Access Subcommittee, they have connected with students at Davis High School HOSA (Houston), G.W. Carver High School HOSA (Birmingham), the Kappa League (Birmingham), and the LSU Honors College.
