We kicked off our year yesterday with our very first meeting as a committee at our annual committee retreat! We had so much fun and were SO EXCITED for this next year!

MEET EXEC MONDAY!!!!! 💜🎗️🫶🏻✨

To start off strong it is my pleasure to introduce you to the Director/President of UCA Relay For Life, Eva Grace Duncan! Get to know a little bit more about what Eva Grace does and her favorite parts about relay!

“As Director/President, I help oversee the entire Relay For Life process, including committee meetings, fundraisers, percentage nights, and our overall event. I also get to lead our amazing exec board and help each of them create successful subcommittees! This is my third year being involved with Relay For Life! I served on exec last year, and having that experience made me want to step into a leadership role this year. l’ve grown to love this organization so much, and I wanted the opportunity to help lead our team and make this year’s Relay the best one yet! My favorite memory would definitely the Stoby’s Pancake Breakfast! I had so much fun getting to serve our community, talk about one of my favorite organizations, and spend time working alongside my committee members. It was such a fun morning and a memory I’II always love! “

For our second meet exec Monday of this week we have our amazing Executive Vice President, Chloe Clark!! Get to know all about Chloe and her role as #EXECUTIVEVP !

“As Executive Vice President for Relay For Life, I help keep our organization running smoothly behind the scenes. I support our subcommittees, oversee meetings and coordination, manage event registration through CubConnect, and help ensure everyone has the resources and support they need to make our events successful. I joined the executive board because I feel passionately about the mission behind our organization and wanted to become more involved in making a lasting impact throughout the community. My favorite Relay memory so far has been interacting with survivors and patients at the event and being reminded of who our organization serves!“

I wanted to grow my professional skills and give what I can contribute to a cause that is important to others and in my own life. MEET EXEC MONDAY 💜🎗️🫶🏻✨

Next up is our wonderful Vice President of Fundraising, Brooklyn Taylor!!!!! Get to know a little bit more about what all Brooklyn does for #RELAYFORLIFE

“As VP of Fundraising, I plan all of our fundraisers throughout the year! This includes all of our fundraisers off and on campus, such as our infamous Statues on the Lawn fundraiser, and many more! I also plan all of our percentage nights with businesses! The fundraisers raise money to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to support families and those affected by cancer and ultimately find the cure to cancer! I joined the Relay Exec Board because I have lost several family members to cancer and I loved being a part of committee last year! My favorite Relay memory is getting matching Kendra Scott bracelets with my two best friends on committee last year at our event. The day was so fun and so rewarding seeing everyone walking around, supporting a cause bigger than themselves and impacting families and those affected by cancer everywhere!”

Next up on our executive board is our Vice president of Recruitment and Mission Impact, Ryan Cromer! Take a look at what all Ryan does for #RelayForLife and what he loves most about R4L!

“My job is to communicate with campus RSO’s and get them to table with Relay at our big event at the end of the spring semester! I also am in charge of supporting Cancer survivors in our community whether that be by bringing them small gifts or by hosting events for them.
I joined the exec board so that I could play my part in fighting Cancer by raising money to the American Cancer Society! I also am excited to work with the rest of the exec board and know we can make this one of the best relays yet!
My favorite memory of being on a Relay committee is bringing gifts to CARTI in our community. Seeing the smiles of everyone involved was incredibly heartwarming and reminded me of the impact of our organization.”

Our next executive board member is our Vice President of Logistics, Addie Son! Get to know a little bit more about what Addie does and what she loves most about Relay!

"My job as Vice President of Logistics is to be responsible for all of the behind-the-scenes planning that goes into making the event happen. I help organize the details, make sure everything is prepared, and work with the rest of the executive board to make sure the event runs smoothly. I joined the executive board because I have a passion for helping others and, most importantly, for helping end cancer! My favorite Relay memory is getting to see my first Relay come together and watching all of the hard work and planning turn into such a magical and meaningful day. It was so rewarding to see everyone come together for such an important cause!”

Last but not least, we have our #RELAYFORLIFE Vice President of Communications and Outreach, Emma Kate Johnson! Read about why she joined Relay and all that she does on exec!

“I’m the Vice President of Communications and Outreach, so my role is mainly focused on promoting Relay for Life to students and the community and making sure people know what Relay is, what the event has to offer, and all of the different ways they can get involved. I help with social media, advertising, outreach, and finding ways to get people excited about the event and encourage more participation. I joined the exec board because Relay for Life is really personal to me since my mom is a cancer survivor, and I wanted to be part of something that was bigger than myself and make an impact on something that means so much to me and my family. I also wanted to help support other survivors, caregivers, and families who have been affected by cancer and help create an event where they feel recognized, supported, and celebrated. My favorite memory so far was definitely the big Relay event last year because I got to see all of the work everyone put in come together, but more importantly, I got to connect with so many survivors and caregivers and show them how much support they have. Seeing everyone come together for the same cause and hearing some of their stories made the event feel so meaningful and reminded me why Relay is so important and why I wanted to be involved in the first place!!!”

RELAY FOR LIFE 26-27 COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN NOW! 💜🎗️🐻 We cannot wait to hear from all of you and would love for yall to apply to be on the UCA Relay For Life Committee! Applications are open until Sunday, September 13th at 9:00 PM! Interviews will be held Sep. 21-24 in the student center!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 💛💜💗🩵🤍

Childhood should be filled with laughter, friendship, and making memories…not hospital rooms and treatments. This month, we’re shining a light on childhood cancer, honoring every fighter and survivor, remembering those we’ve lost, and supporting the families who continue to fight. 🎗️
