Window walls have many benefits including making a space feel larger and improving natural light. But the main reason it was built into this home was to connect its residents with the outdoors, creating the feel of a rustic yet luxurious retreat.

Floor-to-ceiling windows bring the surrounding landscape into the room, while the simple palette of stone, wood, and woven furnishings keeps the focus on the view.

In a double-height great room, scale has to be managed carefully. Without enough visual structure, the room can feel oversized and disconnected.

Here, the full-height stone fireplace creates a strong vertical anchor and gives the eye a clear focal point. The suspended light fixture reinforces the height of the room, while the interior balcony and dark steel detailing introduce horizontal layers that break the volume into more readable sections.

At the lower level, the large sectional and substantial wood console help ground the space, creating a more intimate zone within the larger room.

At the top of the stairs, the custom metal railing follows the edge of the interior balcony, creating a clean guardrail while keeping the stairwell visually open. Its simple lines complement the concrete and warm wood below without competing with them. It’s a great example of how custom metalwork can be both functional and an integral part of the architecture.

Proud to see the work of @kg_fabrication come through so clearly in the finished space.

With the structure still exposed, you can see the craftsmanship behind the walls before insulation, drywall, and finishes turn it into a finished space.

A look inside our millwork shop, where custom cabinetry and built-ins are cut, shaped, and assembled before making their way to the job site. From raw material to finished installation, having this work happen in-house gives our team greater control over the details every step of the way.

Installing built-in storage under a staircase is a great way to make use of otherwise unused space, but achieving a seamless, flush finish takes precision and patience.

At this stage, every opening is carefully measured, adjusted, and test-fit to ensure the cabinetry aligns perfectly with the surrounding walls and that the hardware operates smoothly. It’s this meticulous prep work that makes the finished cabinetry look like it was always part of the home.

Hand-troweled plaster walls, polished concrete floors, warm wood, and custom metalwork come together to create a space that feels both grounded and highly considered.

The curved openings and interior balcony add another layer to the composition, drawing the eye upward and allowing the spaces to connect visually.

The long weekend is winding down, and summer is right there with it. One more day to slow down, take a swim, gather with friends, and make the most of the season before fall arrives.

This infinity pool and terrace were designed to look out over the surrounding hills, making the landscape part of the experience from every angle. A fitting place to spend the last day of summer.

Framing is underway, giving a first look at how the new spaces will connect to the existing structure while opening the house further to its wooded setting. A lot of the finished details are still to come, but the scale and character of the addition are already coming through.
