Excited to share that I’ve been invited to the Alamein Africa Forum in Egypt!

This is particularly special for me because it is my first time visiting the ancient and beautiful country of Egypt, and my first experience in North Africa.

I’m looking forward to an inspiring programme, meaningful conversations, new connections, and opportunities to learn from changemakers, innovators, and leaders from across Africa and beyond.

There is something exciting about being in a place with thousands of years of history while engaging in conversations about Africa’s future.

Egypt, I’m ready!

NATAL CARES - Every Mother Matters

No woman should lose her life while trying to bring another life into the world.

Yet for thousands of women in rural and underserved communities, pregnancy and childbirth can still mean navigating misinformation, harmful superstitions, limited healthcare access and the lack of basic resources needed for a safe delivery.

At NATAL CARES, we are changing that — one community at a time.

Through our NATAL CARES Delivery Kits, we have reached 1,500 pregnant women with essential items to support safer and more hygienic childbirth. For many women in underserved communities, having these basic delivery essentials can make an important difference in their preparation for childbirth.

But we know that saving lives requires more than supplies.

Through our maternal and child health information platform, we have reached 25,000 women with medically reviewed information designed to help them understand pregnancy, recognize danger signs, challenge harmful myths and make more informed decisions about their health and the health of their babies.

We are seeing the potential of this work in the communities we serve.

Reported maternal deaths have reduced from 4 deaths out of every 15 deliveries to 1 death out of every 15 deliveries.

But we cannot celebrate one death.

One is still one too many.

Our goal is ZERO.

We are taking maternal healthcare closer to the women who need it most — reaching the grassroots, including communities where access to reliable healthcare can feel like a black hole.

Through technology, health education, community engagement and practical support such as our Delivery Kits, NATAL CARES is building a more informed, better-supported pathway to safer motherhood.

And we have only just started.

Our vision is simple:

No mother should be lost while trying to bring another life into the world.

We are working to make ZERO maternal deaths a reality.

NATAL CARES

During our outreach in Ugele community, Natal Cares supported pregnant women with WHO-aligned delivery kits containing essential supplies needed for safe and hygienic childbirth. These kits are designed to reduce infection risks and ensure safer delivery conditions for both mother and newborn.

We also engaged the women with simple, practical health education on safe delivery practices, danger signs during pregnancy, and when to seek urgent care.

This intervention is part of our ongoing commitment to improving maternal health outcomes and reducing preventable deaths in underserved communities by bridging critical gaps in access to essential childbirth resources. by @uche_udekwe

A Cesarean section (C-section) is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby through incisions made in the mother’s abdomen and uterus, usually when a vaginal birth may pose risks to the mother or baby.

It is not a “lesser” birth—it is a lifesaving medical procedure that protects mothers and newborns in complications such as prolonged labour, fetal distress, placenta issues, or obstructed delivery.

Recovery after a C-section takes time. The body is healing from major surgery, so rest, proper nutrition, wound care, and gentle movement are important in the first weeks. Pain, swelling, and fatigue are normal, but should gradually improve with care and support.

Every birth story is unique. Whether vaginal or surgical, what matters most is a safe delivery and a healthy mother and baby.

Pregnancy is not just a woman’s journey—it’s a shared experience that thrives on love, patience, and support. 💛

A supportive man shows up in the little things: attending clinic visits, listening without trying to fix everything, offering reassurance on hard days, and celebrating every milestone—no matter how small. He understands that her body is changing, her emotions are shifting, and what she needs most is presence, not perfection.

Real strength is in being gentle, present, and intentional. Because when a man stands firmly beside his partner, the journey becomes lighter, safer, and filled with more love. 🤍
