The Latine Law Students Association held two events during Hispanic Heritage Month. The first was a kickoff social event featuring food, activities, and music as we celebrate the vibrant histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latine communities. The second was Sobremesa: @uconnllsa's annual diversity networking event, bringing more than 20 attorneys to campus to meet with students.

Student organizations help shape our campus community through service, advocacy, mentorship, and outreach. Their dedication to giving back demonstrates the power of students working together to create meaningful impact. by @uconnlaw

Join the Connecticut Law Review on Friday for the Connecticut Law Review Symposium: Integrity and New Corruption featuring Senator Chris Murphy '02 as well as expert law professors and practicing lawyers.

Friday, Oct. 16 | 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Scott F. Smith Reading Room

Panelists will address topics including the weaknesses in U.S. federal, state, and local laws that fail to reign in corruption domestically and the institutional weaknesses that fail to curb it. We will pose a wide-ranging set of questions to our participants, who will come from across the country and from both academic and law enforcement backgrounds. Are forms of corruption surfacing that our laws and institutions have not been designed to address? Have institutions been weakened that we have traditionally relied upon? What lessons can we learn from the successes and failures of other countries?

Today is Law Student Mental Health Day! Every law student’s journey is unique and comes with big wins, tough moments, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable lessons – through it all we are here help you navigate the challenges, embrace the opportunities, and celebrate your success.

UConn Law, led by our Office of Student Affairs, believes a crucial part of our role is supporting the whole student by reinforcing the importance of managing stress, preventing burnout, supporting mental health, and developing healthy habits for a sustainable legal career.

We celebrated Well-Being Week with moments of levity (flowers, socks, donuts, cupcakes) and learning. Thank you to Brian McManus (@lclct.inc) and Sara Bonaiuto ’18 (@ctbarassociation's Young Lawyers Section & Shipman & Goodwin LLP) for offering our students guidance on burnout. And thank you to Heidi Alexander (Board of Bar Overseers and Former Executive Director of the MA Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Lawyer Well-Being) for speaking on wellness as a lawyer’s professional responsibility. by @uconnlaw

We made new memories with old friends during Law Reunion! Alumni traveled from across the country, including California, Florida, Tennessee, and Illinois, to reconnect with classmates and celebrate their time at UConn Law. We are honored to hold a place in their hearts. All our alumni remain an integral part of the UConn Law community, especially as inspiration and resources to both fellow alumni and current students.

Alumni from years ending in 1 and 6, you can find more photos on the UConn Law Flickr

Did you know there are gargoyles on MacKenzie Hall? If you’re looking for a crouching, winged monster, you won’t find one. But you will find “a spout in the form of a grotesque animal figure projecting from a roof gutter to throw rainwater clear of a building.”
Next time you walk by MacKenzie, look up! by @uconnlaw

The Connecticut chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel joined us for an engaging panel discussion designed to introduce law students to the in-house legal profession.

Thank you to panelists Dan Gottfried '04 (Enfinity Global, Inc.), Elena Antonetti ( @travelersinsurance), Keegan A. Drenosky '12 (Shipman & Goodwin LLP), Troy Prince (@rtxcorporation), Jessica Zimberlin (@pfizerinc), Mike Witcoskie (Paragon Legal), and Melissa Lauretti '15 (Travelers) for sharing your insights with our students!

The panelists spoke to the roles and responsibilities of corporate counsel, discussed the various career paths that lead to in-house practice, and offered practical guidance on building the skills and experience needed to succeed in this field. The discussion also explored the relationship between corporate counsel and outside law firms, highlighting how attorneys in private practice can effectively support their corporate clients.

This program, like so many from our Center for Career Development, provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn about career options, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the corporate legal landscape. by @uconnlaw

Four UConn Law LLM programs have earned recognition on the @nationaljurist’s 2026 Honor Roll of Best LLM Programs for Foreign Attorneys. U.S. Legal Studies, Human Rights and Social Justice, Insurance Law, and Energy and Environmental Law were selected for their academic quality, mentorship, practical training, career support, and overall student experience.

At UConn Law, we are especially proud of the individualized support and personal attention we provide to our international LLM students. Our students learn from accomplished faculty in small classes, have opportunities to take courses alongside JD students, and benefit from close interaction with faculty and dedicated staff throughout their studies. These connections allow international students to become an integral part of the UConn Law community while developing a deeper understanding of the U.S. legal system and their chosen areas of specialization.
