May is not over yet, and we almost lost track of all the crazy achievements made by the team during the month!
It all started with @margauxbouyssonie and @julie_cnt , who casually decided to give a go to the HK Trail, first time +40km for @julie_cnt - they definitely nailed it with the support of all the team!
Few weeks after, it was @rudy.bottin and @paul_fournier1 who went for a #RoundTheIsland, still for fun, but ran at a super decent pace over the 55km.
And while all these challenges brought people together, we shouldn't forget that we have fierce competitors among our members.
@gllmegram took the 1st runner-up for the @trail_noble_contree in Switzerland, while @veronka_running won the @actionasiaevents last weekend, crossing the finish line with @matuglow , positioning them 3rd ex-aequo at the scratch! @antoine_in_hk took part of the party as well and reached the top 15!

Hats off to all the team, and keep pushing hard and smiling at the same time !

Happy Easter everyone !
The team made sure there won't be any second thoughts when it is time to eat all the chocolate eggs !

Special mention to @salomonwettstein who did 10k of elevation for the beauty of the sport! Please, keep inspiring and motivating to be a better us!

Have a fantastic time with family and friends everyone!

Before heading to the festivities of the year-end, just a throwback of what happened in the team lately besides OTW
- @salomonwettstein proved to everyone that #Lantau was his Kingdom - he took the win on the @actionasiaevents #Lantau50
- @asp_l took a 4th rank on the 13k #Hysan by @actionasiaevents, just one week after a very speedy 10k race!

Other than that, we cracked some jokes, had good fun, and spend time in family 😊

While the dust is finally settling down, and the post-race depression trauma easing, we can finally name what it was all about last Saturday on the Mac : Family !
Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten (source: Lilo & Stitch)

We did not do 100km on the Mac just from our four runners' sweat, from static and mobile supports, coach and sponsors to our family and friends overseas cheering for us, we were moving as one.

Whatever the headwind was, we made it through, one for all, all for one.
We broke a record, 12h28ish for a Mixed Team on the Oxfam Trailwalker. By definition, ours is also meant to be broken one day, but no one is in a rush.

However, anyone who took part of this project should feel ownership, as we all know it was something special.
Since we step up our game, we would like to spread it beyond just sport and trail running.
Hit the link in our bio to donate for Oxfam through our team page. We raised our target, it's now your time to step up.

Are we ready ?
Well, we'll get the answer tomorrow, trying to manage what's manageable and being audacious when comes the unmanageable!
What's sure, we actually put our best efforts to prepare this #otw2021🚀 , plus a (big) pinch of salt made by @erwan_runningthings , and also plenty of good vibes during this preparation journey surrounded by our family and friends!
Now, let's roll up our sleeves, do our best and enjoy tomorrow with our loved ones as if there is no tomorrow !

Halfway thru the day, almost there! Soon we can enjoy these beautiful trails, just like @veronka_running enjoyed that downhill on her way to Victory in Lantau @actionasiaevents a few weeks ago! 🤙🏽

Uglow Team in da house !
#CBRE #lantau2peaks last Sunday saw our fellow teammates crushing the race !
@paul_fournier1 and @veronka_running came respectively 1st and 2nd overall of the 22k race, proving (if anyone still had some doubts about it) that they were among the top trail runners of the city! 🤯

@julie_cnt in the 15k race came in the top 10 of her category as well !🥳

It was the hottest ever #lantau2peaks, and it did not help @gllmegram and our new teammate @salomonwettstein who both have to drop out unfortunately 😢

Anyway, it was a dream start for this season with dramas, fights and amazing efforts, we couldn't be prouder of our champ' and we are definitely super excited for the next races coming !!

Big thanks to @actionasiaevents for having organised it, to all competitors who shared the trails, and also to our support media team on the day (drone pilot : @matuglow / photographer : @rudy.bottin / logistics : @margauxbouyssonie & @elsa_jeandedieu)

Cham’ 2021 🏔
-
Our trooper @gllmegram was the only one of us to make the trip to Chamonix this year. Keen to improve on a very solid 46th place at TDS 2019, Guillaume strictly followed the training plan meticulously devised by our coach @erwan_runningthings, focusing on speed and spending countless hours on the treadmill while his teammates were enjoying the trails (and 🍻). All the hard work and sacrifices made for a pretty emotional start, but when the gun went off, surrounded by the world elites of the sport, it was all about business! However, climbing the first 7km of the course in just 49mins, a whopping 15mins faster than in 2019, proved to be overly agressive, and with worsening weather conditions, made for a pretty rough first part of the race. By Bourg Saint-Maurice (km50), Guillaume was still outside of the top100 and barely ahead of his 2019 split. However, with the support of his brother @viewbydemo on the course, things got better and he was moving back up the field, steadily at first, but that’s when the sun rose that he really put the hammer down, crushing the last 60k to an incredible 33rd place, finishing under 24hrs and knocking a full hour off his 2019 time!!! What an epic run @gllmegram, you gave us the chills following online from HK!! We are all so proud of you!! 🥰

Can’t wait for next year with hopefully a big Uglow delegation in Chamonix 🤞🏽

The path towards some normality seems to get shorter week after week.
Not only the steamy Hong Kong summer is here to prove it, but a trail running race was happening last Saturday, like in the good old times, organised by @actionasiaevents ☺️
It led to an epic battle between our fierce @paul_fournier1 and the famous @documentedmigrant.
It was fast, hard and brutal, 21k race with 500m of elevation! While Paul managed to keep the lead on the first part which was mostly technical trails, he had to let Jeff go on the concrete section and enjoy his well deserved first runner-up ranking! Hats off !
On the 12k, our soon-to-be trail superstars @margauxbouyssonie and @julie_cnt finished 3rd and 1st of their respective category, super well done ladies !!

We can't wait for the next one, and very grateful for @actionasiaevents to offer these opportunities to run, suffer, laugh and have great time among the Hong Kong trail running community!

Also, special thanks for the moral support from @rudy.bottin, @antoine_in_hk and @matuglow who just woke up at 4am for cheering up our runners - that's what we call a true team spirit !

Alone you (may) go fast, together you go far!
This #virtualCOO illustrated perfectly what makes us a team ! Teammates taking turns to pull eachother, support fighting stray dogs, hiking or running miles to deliver A-class CPs, and a common desire to do the best for the other: all-in-all, the @uglowteam delivered the fastest time of this edition.
The start at 4pm was audacious, the struggle with the heat was real, and the outcome was very fun - we gave our all !
We can't wait to defend our title in a real edition, and honoured to take part of this race from @racebaseasia supporting the @thebraintumourcharity
