Join researchers and eye care professionals March 6–10, 2027, at the Marriott Marquis Houston for 5 days of myopia research, education, and connection.

Last week, UH Health was out in the Houston community helping families prepare for a healthy and successful school year. 🎒❤️

At the Mayor’s Back to School Fest, students, faculty and staff from the UH College of Optometry and UH College of Pharmacy provided health services, screenings and education to hundreds of families.

👁️ UH Optometry screened 328 participants, with 104 referred for follow-up care and 39 vision care vouchers distributed. More than 50 volunteers helped make the effort possible.

💊 UH Pharmacy students provided 246 wellness screenings and 1,905 educational encounters covering topics including nutrition, diabetes and stroke prevention, cardiovascular health, immunizations and medication safety.

Meanwhile, the UH Health Family Care Center hosted its annual Back to School Block Party, distributing 530 backpacks filled with school supplies to local families. 🎒

Together, these efforts reflect UH Health’s commitment to improving health and well-being across the communities we serve. by @uh_optometry
