Spirits and Shadows Portfolio Exchange is the second annual portfolio exchange hosted by the Iowa Print Group. Iowa Print Group members’ shadowy and mysterious prints are on display this week in the Mendieta Gallery, VAB, University of Iowa till Sept 12th. All prints are included in our silent auction, & all proceeds go back to the club to put on more fun events like this one. Hey Iowa Print Group! Our first meeting of the semester is TOMORROW, Sept 2nd from 6 -7pm! We will be discussing upcoming events and gatherings that we’ll be hosting this Fall semester, as well as announcing our upcoming Election. Please join us whether you’re new and interested in getting more involved in the printmaking community on campus and/or if you’ve been with us for a while and are a printmaking print-slinger. Last week at Frogman’s Print Workshops we celebrated, Michael Barnes, UIowa Printmaking alumni of the highest distinction. It’s been 30 years since Michael graduated from the program (with the eminent ranking of Supa Kool Awsumma).

Michael you always have a home here! Herky apologizes for not being able to attend any of the celebrations. Go Hawks!

We had an amazing summer at Frogman’s this year! Im so happy to meet some amazing new artists this year and reconnecting with old friends! Huge shout out to the amazing faculty we had this year and a bigger thanks to the wonderful assistance that made my first year as Coordinator run smoothly. Thank you @frogmansprintworkshops for putting on a wonderful workshop and thank you @terryjamesconrad and @uiowaprint for hosting us at the university. All good things must come to an end and this is just goodbye until next year!

UIowa Students!!!!!!!!
Our 2026-2027 Grant Wood Fellow Hannah March Sanders is teaching silkscreen in the Fall. 10:30-12:20 Monday/Wednesday in the Visual Arts Building. This will be a dynamic print class! Sign up while there are spaces available!

Hannah March Sanders received their BFA at Tulane University and an MFA in printmaking from Louisiana State University. Hannah spent 12 years as a Professor in the Department of Art + Design at Southeast Missouri State University in a number of roles including directing the BA in Art acting as Area Head of Printmaking & Fibers, and coordinating Catapult Press–a letterpress that was part of an entrepreneurship center in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Hannah is currently teaching online courses and workshops through places such as the Sequential Artists Workshop (S.A.W.) and through academic and community art institutions nationwide. They have been named the Grant Wood Fellow in Printmaking at the University of Iowa for the 2026-2027 year to work on their speculative graphic memoir. by @uiowaprint
