A cosy autumnal stay at Waterfoot Park on Ullswater 🐿️ AD

Last weekend, we stayed in a gorgeous little cottage at Waterfoot Park, complete with stunning views, a cosy woodburner and Ullswater Lake right on the doorstep. With Pooley Bridge only a 20 minute walk away where the @ullswatersteam can take you right around the Lake, there’s so much to do in this area. Here are some of our favourite things:

🥾Hikes: Aira Force and Gowbarrow Fell is always an easy favourite, or catch the ‘steamer’ from Glenridding to Howtown and walk back either via the Ullswater Way or over Place Fell (this one’s in my book!). We also enjoyed a little ramble up to Lanty’s Tarn and Keldas on this trip which is great for little legs!

🍻 Pubs: there’s plenty of options in Pooley Bridge itself or head to the Brackenrigg just a mile down the road. The Horse & Farrier in Dacre also does a delicious Sunday Roast!

☕️ Cafes: head to @vereybooks in Ullswater for a browse through the beautiful bookshop and a light lunch or delicious coffee and cake.

☔️ Rainy days: the Rheged centre is just up the road and has a cinema, galleries, soft play, a great restaurant and shops to browse.

⛴️ Don’t miss: the Ullswater ‘Steamers’ for a trip around the lake with exceptional views!

It's that wonderful time of the year as the landscapes change day by day. Leaves turn golden, the grass crunches underfoot and the mist lies low on the lake. It's the perfect time to take a trip on the 'Steamers' to survey the spectacle of Autumn in the Lakes 🍂
