JINJA: ULS's Adv. Naaman Obeita, Legal Officer of our Legal Aid Project clinic in JINJA was live this evening on 87.7 BABA FM discussing issues of domestic violence especially during the outbreak of the Corvid 19 epidemic.
They had a discussion about the purpose of the Domestic Violence Act, 2010, defined domestic violence and it's forms. Punishments and remedies provided by the law and where a victim can report such cases. The listeners were implored to follow the presidential directives and the law as a whole.
Those who called in were mostly men who complained about domestic violence in all its forms beinf perpetrated against them by their wives and how they are embarrassed to report such cases. They were informed that cases can be reported to LC Courts or Police. Very minor ones can be settled amicably at home or mediated.
