Our heartiest congratulations to Shinnecock Hills super and UMass alum Jonathan Jennings for overseeing a stiff test of golf in a beautiful setting at last week's US Open. For his efforts Jon was awarded the E.J. Marshall Platter from the United States Golf Association. Bravo!

From Stockbridge to the world stage!

UMass Stockbridge School of Agriculture Turf alumni Ryan Bjorn and Chris Hurley are helping manage the pitch for FIFA World Cup matches at Boston Stadium, ensuring one of the game’s most important playing surfaces meets the highest international standards.

Their work showcases the expertise, leadership, and dedication that define the Stockbridge turf program. We are proud to see our alumni playing a key role in delivering one of the world’s premier sporting events.

Thanks to recent Stockbridge/UMass grad Dante Filadoro for the pictures! by @umassturf

It's finals week!

It's been a fun, rigorous semester for students who are eager to graduate or move on to their summer internships.

While it was a "normal" Massachusetts winter with cold and snow, students did finally get outside to do some irrigation auditing work and electrical troubleshooting in instructor James Poro's class. A few trips to the Joseph Troll Turf Research Center were also a nice break from the classroom walls! by @umassturf

Another academic year comes to a close for the UMass Turf Club and it was one for the books! Started off by fundraising for our trips to the national GCSAA and SFMA shows, sending a total of 9 students to them and having a turf bowl team win 6th place! We hosted numerous guest speakers from all side of the industry, and visited Gillette Stadium and Savage Sod Farm. Special thanks to all professors, industry professionals, alumni, and students for making this year great! Looking forward to what’s to come next year! Good luck to everyone at their summer internships and congratulations to all seniors! #turflife #gcsaa #sfma #goumass taken in University of Massachusetts, Amherst by @umassturf

Dr. Evan Mascitti was on hand at the 'Cooler Communities Fair' at Sunderland Elementary recently to help promote STEM fields to K-6 kids!

He brought along some Kentucky bluegrass sod and showed students how to plant tall fescue in their very own pots to take home! Hopefully, we have some future turf managers eager to get their hands dirty! by @umassturf
