One last reminder that our next online information session about the #MSW program here at #UMKC will be held next Tuesday over the lunch hour. You'll be sent the link when you register to attend through the link in our bio. These sessions include slides with information about everything from the application process to class schedules and what makes our program different than many others in the region (hint: We're Advanced Generalist focused, not a track program where students needs to choose whether they're going to focus on clinical work or administrative roles). If you want to start our program in Spring 2027 with a couple of electives, you can apply by November 1! by @umkcsocwk

The scholarship portal is now open for 2027 awards! For many you also have to complete the FAFSA, but there are scholarships available for undergrads AND GRADUATE students. In SESWPS, we had several that weren't granted this year because they didn't get applicants. Go to the Financial Aid webpage to learn more (link in bio) and complete your application. You can also get information and assistance with this and the FAFSA from staff in the Financial Aid office. UMKC Scholarship program - one portal for hundreds of scholarships across campus. The Missouri Department of Mental Health is seeking a social worker for their inpatient forensic psychiatric facility, Center for Behavioral Medicine, located in Kansas City. The unit serves individuals who have been court ordered to the Department of Mental Health for inpatient psychiatric treatment, with the goal of restoring the individual’s competency to proceed in their legal case. Applicants with some inpatient psychiatric or forensic experience are encouraged to apply.

An LMSW is preferred, but all MSWs are encouraged to apply. Additionally, BSWs or individuals with bachelor’s degrees in related fields to social work with at least 2 years of experience are encouraged to apply. A BSW with plans to pursue their MSW is preferred.

We offer great benefits which include up to 3 weeks paid vacation, 3 weeks of sick leave, 13 paid holidays, as well as retirement, life insurance, dental and health care options. Additionally, social workers can receive free supervision for clinical licensure.

Did you know that #UMKC has @umkcfinancialwellness that offers classes and financial coaching? Their next class will be offered this Thursday, Sept 3rd at 12:30 to talk about various ways to save money as a student (including student discounts, avoiding interest and fees, tips to save on common expenses, etc.). Students can get more information and sign up to attend through Roo Groups, but we also recommend reaching out to schedule one-on-one consultations to think through budgets, financial aid options, and more! by @umkcsocwk
