Trayon Ajani…..He who wins the struggle. My first son before I even knew what it meant to be a mother. I am so grateful that I did not let my fear stop me from accepting the invitation to be your godmom. I was in the hospital room when you were born and now to watch you graduate is surreal. You have your mom’s poise and your dad’s resilience. Greatness is in you and not just on you. You are loved unconditionally. So proud of who you have grown to be and who you are still becoming. Happy Birthday! 👑🥳😘 by @unapologeticallyqueen

This month we wrapped up Freedom Summer in Memphis and it began with our Women in Leadership Mixer.

Some rooms are about networking. This one was about building something. ✨

The Equity Alliance brought together women who lead, organize, create, serve, and move our communities forward, not just to exchange business cards, but to exchange wisdom.

Listen, the secret sauce has never been one woman having all the answers. It’s what happens when we bring our experiences, our resources, our lessons and our brilliance to the same table.

To every woman who pulled up, poured in and made room for somebody else: thank you. 🖤

This is what community looks like. This is what leadership looks like…and we’re just getting started.

Dear Victoria Taraji-

You are the better version of me. You are so bright, so funny, so observant, so thoughtful and so much more. Never shrink! I absolutely love you with my entire being and I’m so grateful to be trusted to care and cultivate the vessel that is you! These 8 years have been some of the best years of my life. I always want you to fully recognize how loved you are. Happy Birthday to my heart.

When you see us in the red berets, know that power is on the way. ❤️‍🔥🖤

Memphis, we had a GOOD time at the Southern Heritage Classic! We called on Black women to march with us dressed in uninterrupted BLACK because we know what happens when we show up together.

We didn’t just come to have a good time. We were in community, connecting with our people and registering voters, because there is power in the vote. 🗳️

We’re gonna keep showing up, building relationships, and building power wherever we are. That’s what we do. ✊🏾 #SouthernHeritageClassic #Memphis #BlackPower #TheEquityAlliance

1,000 Miles to Memphis… WE SEE Y’ALL! 🖤✊🏾

The 1,000 Miles to Memphis journey officially wrapped at the end of August, and what a powerful way to close it out at the National Civil Rights Museum and Lorraine Hotel.

The Equity Alliance was proud to support the movement and meet the marchers along the way, including when they stopped in Nashville and when they reached Memphis. We showed up, connected, and stood in solidarity with the work happening across the South.

The miles may be over, but the work to protect voting rights and build power continues. 🖤

Last Tuesday @theequityalliance was at Oakhaven High School distributing food, water, and essential aid to communities impacted by the storm and power outages.

Equity Alliance leaders also raised concerns about patterns they’ve observed involving Gary Indiana, xAI, data centers, infrastructure, and their impact on surrounding communities.

@jwilliamj8 and @wyomattt with @thejaampod stopped through to support, conduct interviews, and encourage the youth to stay true to themselves no matter what.

Through it all, one message was made clear: we have to remember that we are all we need.
