We believe every dog deserves its day.

A photograph is often the very first impression a potential adopter gets of a shelter animal, and can make or break a second look. That's why we started our Overexposures project, partnering with @officialscanimalshelter to capture adoptable dogs in professional portraits and helping them catch the eye of their future families.

We've overexposed 80 underdogs so far, and looking forward to bringing light to many more! taken in Santa Cruz, California by @underdogpawtraits

Oh hi, it's me!

We're Underdog Photo Studio and we're excited to officially launch our pet portraiture experience! Based in beautiful Santa Cruz, California, we're a full service photo studio that specializes in creating professional pawtraits and museum-quality artwork for fur families across the region. We think pets and their people should be celebrated and their love cherished forever, and what better way than to immortalize them in art - from pixel to print!

We've already met so many wonderful pups and their families - and doled out a lot of cheese! - and we're excited to meet so many more! taken in Santa Cruz, California by @underdogpawtraits

Happy 14th birthday and gotcha day to our CEO (Cat Executive Officer), Smokey! 🎂

Thirteen years ago, Smokey "Depot" came into our life as a stray wandering the parking lot of a certain home improvement store. He was scavenging crumbs from a discarded takeout bag when a car startled him and he fled into the adjacent bushes. Unable to leave him, we returned to look for him, and the rest is history.

Smokey is an integral part of our studio. When he's not taking long cat naps in the sun, he happily tests - and harshly critiques - our lighting, props, and treats. He's a top tier purrfessional and gets paid the market rate in snacks.

He may be a handsome old man now, but he'll forever be our little baby. by @underdogpawtraits

PUPDATE: Alani found her furever home and is now adopted!

Meet adoptable Alani!

We can't believe this sweet shepherd lady is still at @officialscanimalshelter. We had the privilege of meeting her for our Overexposures project, and she was the sweetest, gentlest model. Although she's a little shy at first, she's so attentive and loving once she comes out of her shell. She has so much love and affection to give her future family.

As a special gift, we're offering her adopter complimentary digitals of these three portraits, as well as a $250 artwork credit toward turning these images into wall art to celebrate her. Share the word and let's help this goodest girl find her furever family! taken in Santa Cruz, California by @underdogpawtraits
