With almost 100 of you here, I think an introduction on the feed is overdue. Thank you for joining the Under the Rosemary fam, I’m glad you’re here. Now, here’s 5 things about me:

☀️ I’m @sylvanauribe, 25, Cancer sun creating things out of Long Beach, CA.

🇲🇽🇬🇹 I’m half Mexican and half Guatemalan (#Meximalan, if you will). This means that between Spanish used in Mexico, Central America, and English here, I can have up to 3 words to refer to one item.

🌈🍳I’m a part of the Alphabet Mafia. And apparently, my newer vocab comes from TikTok. #iykyk

😷 I got SUPER sick in 2018 and am now without a gallbladder. I need to limit foods high in fat and spice (AKA all that’s good in this world). For the most part I do, but I’m also human and plan ahead for the flare ups.

🥪 If I could live off one meal type for the rest of my life, it’d be sandwiches. SO. MANY. COMBINATIONS.

I can now cross “Slumber Party at Hollywood Forever Cemetery” off my summer bucket list! And doing mall photoshoot poses in public ✅

I notoriously get anxious watching horror movies (we’re talking lights ON and covering my ears when the suspense is building up to a jumpscare). But something about an outdoor picnic plus a double feature of X and Pearl didn’t activate my scaredy senses…?!

Anyway, @cinespia has been around for 25 years and it was such a joy to finally experience this SoCal staple. Can’t wait to go back! 🎞️ taken in Hollywood Forever by @undertherosemary

10/10 recommend living with your soulmate ✅

but after nearly 3 years, we’re divorcing!! sylvana took the kids (the cats) and the stunning geometric rug! jordan took the furniture and cooking appliances. we split the vibes in the pre-nup. we ask for your privacy as we grieve the end of an era 😭

🏠gratitude for this home we built together. gratitude for the laughs, tears, hugs, meals, art, love, and infinite joy we created here. gratitude to this place that helped us alchemize our best and most fulfilling lives. gratitude to the community that we got to host in this space and love on. grateful for the growth we had together and separately.

above all, grateful to our two souls - guided by angels - who built, dreamed, and thrived together. may our friendship always thrive and grow, no matter where we nurture the seeds we planted. may we bloom even greater this next chapter 🌹

Now what name do we bestow to this princess? 🎃

At the start of this year, I set out to tap back into the parts of myself that found joy in play and creating. Parts that were largely dormant as I navigated grief and major life changes. I’m grateful that crafting is so forgiving. It’s there when I’m ready to pick it up again and at whatever pace I need.

Keeping the joy alive with roommate dates! For this @undertherosemary x @johodaniels outing, we tapped into our inner kids at @thegrablabsd 🕹️

The Grab Lab is so attentive to curating an experience where players go through all of the emotions in snatching up cute prizes and ensuring everyone ends their session with a victory (or a few!)

🍰Continuing the jaunt around East Village, @undertherosemary and I walked to @hinar.cafe to experience their sweet treats and coffee! Their Biscoff Basque Cheesecake was IT for me (girl, idk what basque even means but i’m here for it), and the space was ✨gorgeous✨

I’m enjoying pushing my creativity in this way, and excited to keep sharing some adventures around the city. I hope y’all are liking it too! And if you go to any of these spots, tell me what you think about it.

It was a dream come to life to experience Dia de Muertos in Mexico City! I held my dad’s memory close to my heart throughout this entire trip, often calling in his spirit as a guide and to experience this adventure alongside me.

Thank you @johodaniels for doing this whole life thing with me. My dad would refer to me as his pillar, and today I’m honored to call you one of mine. Looking forward to collecting more passport stamps together! ✈️

We went on a walking tour of #coyoacan and learned about how Mexico as we know it today came to be. I wished I could have shared these history nerd moments with my dad (now one of my ancestors🕊️) because he would have loooved it.

And naturally during this time of year, many families are busy preparing to honor their ancestors through #DiadeMuertos. It was magical to see the vibrant displays around the area, including at the iconic Casa Azul / @museofridakahlo , and learn about the roots of my dad’s home country.

Y la neta que si es soul food chingona. 🔥 Our annual roommate trip brought us out to Mexico City! One of our first stops was @blaxicocina - a Black owned and run restaurant in the Narvarte neighborhood. This is a place that’s building bridges across cultures through food, music, and art. The warm staff, delish food, and showcase of great beats made for an absolute gem of a time. 💫
