the linen service gave women a place to meet, speak openly and spend time together. it also gave me a clearer understanding of the work i want to continue. undertone is an ongoing project bringing together essays, interviews, oral histories, industry analysis, research and visual references.

there will still be opportunities to meet in person, but undertone will not operate as a membership or regular events programme.

i want to touch it.

beauty was never meant to live entirely online. for years, brands became very good at creating desire through screens, but beauty still depends on the body.

in my latest essay on undertone, i write about sephora, bodycare, the return of physical beauty retail, and why the best stores will not simply make women want more. they will help them understand what they are wanting.
