RMP student, Sam Schulz, spent his summer working at Yosemite National Park as a park ranger.

Reflecting on his experience with the National Park Service, Sam said: "This past summer, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to work in Yosemite National Park. Since I had never been to the West Coast before, it was an amazing to be able to experience the Sierra Nevada Mountains and see giant sequoia trees. Most of my work was in a giant sequoia tree grove, which is home to giant sequoia trees that are thousands of years old, some around 3,000 years old. A lot of my daily work was traffic management and visitor services.

I also had opportunities to assist with emergencies and wildlife situations. It was really interesting to see how such a large agency operates and learn more about the different responsibilities of the NPS. It was a really rewarding experience, and I learned a lot throughout the summer. Being able to work around these amazing natural resources every day helped me connect some of what I have been learning in school, especially with my forestry minor, to real situations in the field. One thing I really enjoyed was getting to interact with visitors from all over the world and help them experience the park."

A huge congratulations to Kristina Robb, one of our graduate students in the Recreation Administration option, for completing the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 20, 2026! 🏃‍♀️🎉

Kristina not only finished the race, but achieved a personal best time of 2:57:47, an incredible accomplishment!

Beyond her own running achievements, Kristina also gives back as a volunteer coach for Girls on the Run NH, a nonprofit dedicated to helping girls build confidence, recognize their potential, and overcome limiting gender expectations. Their programs go far beyond running—they support girls at a critical age when confidence and physical activity often decline.
Since 2001, Girls on the Run NH has made an amazing impact across the state:

✨ 24,000+ girls served across all 10 NH counties
✨ 2,400+ volunteer coaches inspiring the next generation
✨ Programs in 220+ locations
✨ Two 8-week seasons each year (spring & fall)
✨ In 2024 alone: 2,242 girls and 512 coaches participated

We are so proud of Kristina for both her athletic achievement and her dedication to empowering others in the recreation space! 💛 taken in University of New Hampshire by @unhrmp

Today is the LAST DAY of the (603) Challenge, and we are so close to reaching our donor goal to unlock additional bonuses! 🎉

To celebrate the final day, we’re highlighting some of our students who have benefited from the generous support of (603) donations. Meet Aaron Harris, John Bean, and Quinn Markham— recent December graduates of the program who are continuing their education and careers at UNH!

Along with fellow RMP students, they attended the Northern New England Recreation and Parks Conference at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel, where they participated in networking events, attended educational sessions, connected with local vendors and recreation professionals, and explored job and internship opportunities across New England.

Here’s what they had to say about their experience!

Supporting Recreation Management & Policy means you play a direct role in helping students pursue their passions, and unlock awesome opportunities like travel and special conferences.

Consider making a gift today through the link in our bio!
