💜 For Christa. For her children. For the family who will forever be part of our Heights community.

One of the things that makes the Heights so special is the way our community shows up for one another. Not just for the celebrations and the happy moments, but in the moments when life feels impossibly unfair.

Christa Bauer was one of our own. A Heights mama, a neighbor, a friend, and a woman whose life was tragically taken far too soon.

Her family continues to navigate unimaginable loss while fighting for justice and facing the financial burdens that have come with it. While we cannot change what happened, we can remind them that they do not have to carry this alone.

On Saturday, October 17, we’re walking for Christa. And we’d love for you to walk with us.

The Bauer Power Walk-a-Thon is bringing communities together to honor Christa’s life, support her family, and show just how far love and community can reach.

We’ve created a Houston Heights team, and we hope you’ll join us. 💜

📍 Unify Physical Therapy & Wellness
1703 Yale Street, Houston, TX 77008

🕘 9 AM | Shirt and merch pickup

🚶 9:30 AM | Walk begins

There are so many ways to show up:

💜 Join our Houston Heights team to walk and/or donate.

💜 Create your own team if you’d prefer!

💜 Walk wherever you are if you can’t join us in person.

💜 Shop the official Bauer Power merchandise collection, with funds going directly toward helping alleviate the financial pressures the Bauer family continues to face. **DEADLINE TO ORDER IS WEDNESDAY, 9/30**

🔗 Both the team registration and merchandise links are in our bio.

Christa’s story is so much more than the tragedy that took her life. She was a mother, a daughter, a friend, and a deeply loved member of our community. We want her family to know that she is remembered, her life matters, and the Heights is standing beside them.

One day. One mile. Every community.

For Christa. Always. 💜 taken in Houston Heights by @unify.pt

Grip strength isn’t necessarily about identifying who’s strong. It’s about identifying who’s weak and may be at greater risk for frailty and other health concerns.

Research suggests that grip strength is an important biomarker of overall strength, fitness, and functional capacity. For clinicians, it can serve as another vital sign, offering insight into how well someone may be able to perform everyday activities and maintain their independence.

Lower grip strength has also been associated with an increased risk of several health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, stroke, and dementia.

So, why does it matter?

Poor grip strength may indicate a greater risk of functional decline, falls, frailty, and loss of mobility. It can also reflect overall physical conditioning, which is closely connected to long-term health and well-being.

A simple measurement can reveal valuable information about the bigger picture of your health. It’s one more reason why assessing strength is an important part of understanding physical function and identifying potential risks early.

Migraines aren’t always just about the head. 🧠

Muscle tension and trigger points in the neck, shoulders, and upper back can contribute to headache and migraine symptoms. Dry needling is one tool we can use to target these areas, reduce muscular tension, and support your body’s ability to move and function with less discomfort.

Every patient is different, which is why we start with an individualized assessment to determine what may be contributing to your symptoms.

If migraines or tension headaches are interfering with your day, let’s find out what’s driving them.

Schedule an evaluation with our team to learn if dry needling may be right for you.

Hi! I’m captaining a team called Houston Heights for a virtual walk-a-thon happening October 17th, put on by Justice for Christa. It’s called the Bauer Power Walk #ForChrista, and it’s a way for people in Christa’s community everywhere to walk a mile in her honor and help support the Bauer family with legal and court costs that have really added up. 💜

Christa was an active and true representation of a mother in our Houston Heights community: children-centered, collaborative, involved, uplifting, good-natured, and passionate. Many of us were devastated and deeply hurt after her tragic passing because we saw us in her. She was one of us. So here is our time to represent and walk for her because she can’t. 💜

If you have pain during s3x, it may be a pelvic floor issue.

Pain with penetration, pelvic pressure, pelvic pain, or discomfort during or after s3x isn’t something you simply have to “live with.”

Your pelvic floor muscles play an important role in s3xual function. When these muscles are too tight, overactive, weak, or not coordinating properly, they can contribute to pain and discomfort.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help identify what’s contributing to your symptoms and create a personalized plan to help you move, function, and feel more comfortably.

Pain is a signal, not something you have to ignore.

If s3x is painful, it’s worth finding out why.

📍Schedule a pelvic floor PT evaluation at Unify PT & Wellness.
