[It’s gonna be a long post]

So here it is:

I’m excited to share that I’ve been verified by the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance for reaching Level II Competence in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. This milestone didn’t come easy—it involved lots of back-and-forth emails with the committee and making sure all the paperwork was in order.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my supervisor and mentor, Dr. Alexander Hirsch. His guidance and support during my six-month Clinical Fellowship in Cardiac Imaging at Erasmus MC were invaluable. And a special thanks for writing that recommendation letter to the SCMR education board. Couldn’t have done it without you, Dr. Hirsch!

I also want to thank Dr. Ing Han, my buddy in cardiac imaging, for all the help and advice along the way.

This achievement feels like a huge step forward for me, and I’m pumped to keep making waves in the world of cardiac imaging.

I was utterly astounded by my recent encounter with Pak Anies Baswedan (@aniesbaswedan ). His encouragement came at a time when I needed it the most.

Throughout his campaign period, I’ve been deeply inspired by him, particularly by his approach to dialogue, self-presentation, campaigning, and his interactions with those around him. I’ve also been motivated by his accomplishments since becoming the governor and, equally importantly, by his academic journey.

Lately, I’ve been grappling with anxiety and uncertainty about starting my PhD. The fear of potential struggles or the program not meeting my expectations was overwhelming. So, I shared my concerns with him, asking, “You studied in America for your doctorate. How did you overcome the fear of starting a PhD?”

His response was profoundly insightful. He said, “Are you the first person to pursue a PhD? No, many have succeeded before you. If they can do it, so can you.” His words were not just comforting but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and capability within us all.

Additionally, he was incredibly open to discussions, embodying humility not just because he ran for presidency, but because that is simply his nature. This humility, combined with his outstanding character, makes his leadership truly remarkable.

So, thank you, Pak Anies. I will revisit this video whenever I encounter difficulties during my PhD journey, drawing inspiration and strength from your wisdom and encouragement. taken in Jakarta, Indonesia by @uninta

🌍 PhD Tradition: Welcoming New Members 🎉

In this welcoming tradition, the newcomers, which are myself and Dr. H. Jingjing from China, marked our entry into the PhD group at Dept. Cardiology, LUMC, by placing pins on a world map at our respective hometowns. I chose a red pin for Malang, and Jingjing placed hers on Guangzhou.

I’m so grateful to be part of such a diverse and supportive group of PhD students from places like Belgium, Argentina, the Philippines, China, Mongolia, and more. 🌍 It’s really motivating to work alongside such driven individuals, all of us pushing forward in our research.

Looking forward to a journey filled with rich experiences, lasting memories, and ultimately, achieving that doctorate. ❤️ Here’s to great beginnings!

🇮🇩Fun fact : I’m the first PhD student from Indonesia in this group!🥹😆

🌏Another fun fact: all the pins you see on this map represent PhD students who came before us. It’s a wholesome and beautiful way to remember everyone’s journey here. 📍

Slovenia was never actually on our bucket list—it was just one of those unexpected destinations that will stay with us for a lifetime. We stayed in a quiet apartment near Lake Bohinj, surrounded by breathtaking mountains and crystal-clear rivers.

During our stay, we soaked in the views at Lake Bled, kayaked across Lake Bohinj, hiked through Triglav National Park, went white-water rafting on the Sava Dolinka, and soared across one of the longest ziplines in Europe. These are the adventures that catch you completely by surprise. 🇸🇮✨ taken in Triglav National Park by @uninta

Two very different cardiac CT projects, one ESC weekend. ✨

From perivalvular and aortic remodeling in bicuspid aortic valve to AI-guided coronary CT risk stratification in diabetes, it was a pleasure to finally see these projects on the screen and discuss them with colleagues at ESC.

A nice reminder that the best part of research is not only finishing the analysis, but being able to share it, get challenged, and bring new ideas home.

Very grateful to everyone who contributed to these studies and to the teams at LUMC and our collaborators who made them possible. 💙

Grateful to have been part of the GROW Community Event 2026 this week, organised by NWO (Dutch Research Council) and Delft University of Technology.

It was two days full of meaningful conversations, new perspectives, and the chance to meet people from different disciplines, sectors, and backgrounds, all coming together around one important idea: how science can be more inclusive, collaborative, and meaningful for society.

What made this event even more special for me was that I was not only there as a participant, but also had the opportunity to co-facilitate one of the workshops. It was a valuable experience to help create a space where people could reflect together, share ideas, and think about how research can be more closely connected to the communities it aims to serve.

I was also really happy to be there with colleagues from the LUMC Global Community. I hope this will be one of many opportunities for us to keep learning, collaborating, and building meaningful connections with colleagues and partners from other institutions, including TU Delft Global.

I left the event feeling grateful and inspired, and reminded that impactful science does not happen in isolation. It grows through dialogue, shared ownership, and genuine collaboration.

Many thanks to NWO, TU Delft Global Initiative, LUMC Global, and everyone involved in making this event possible. by @uninta

One of the absolute biggest highlights of exploring Istanbul is the sheer presence of its mosques. Everyone knows the iconic Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, but what really blew us away were the countless others tucked into every corner—so many beautiful structures that we couldn’t even name them all. Standing in the middle of it all, you get a real, tangible sense of history. The skyline literally tells the story of how massive, wealthy, and powerful the Ottoman Empire truly was back then. It’s one thing to read about it in books, but it’s another thing entirely to see it stretching out in every direction. by @uninta
