🚨 Fire & Rehire - @TaylorWimpey, #Sunderland

Termination notices were given to around 50 workers on 1 October, which they were forced to sign by 7 October. Taylor Wimpey is now planning to hire them on inferior contracts to save money on bonus pay.

Unite officer Greg R said: "Taylor Wimpey has serious questions to answer about how it has treated these workers. It is clear it is taking advantage of the fact fire and hire has not been outlawed.

🚨 Breaking - Leeds Bradford Airport

Strikes by around 130 workers at Leeds Bradford Airport will not go ahead from tomorrow (16 October).

Unite officer Neil W said: "After receiving offers from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have suspended this week’s strike action in good faith to allow members to vote on pay deals.”

🚨 Breaking News - Leeds Bradford Airport

Strikes by air traffic controllers at Leeds Bradford Airport later this week have been suspended following a late offer from the airport.

Unite regional officer Neil Whitaker said: “Following negotiations, we have suspended the air traffic controller strikes taking place this week to allow members to have their say on a new pay offer.”

Meanwhile, hourly paid staff which includes security, check-in staff, passport control workers and passenger assistance are being balloted on a separate offer. The ballot closes tomorrow, if this is rejected these workers will strike as planned from Friday to Sunday (16 to 18 October).

🚨 Breaking - Leeds Bradford Airport

Leeds Bradford Airport is set for a standstill as almost 130 workers will take industrial action over pay. The Unite members are a mixture of air traffic control workers, customer experience staff, security staff and cleaners.

Unite regional officer Neil Whitaker said: "We know people who have flights planned to and from Leeds Bradford Airport will be concerned to hear of industrial action, however our members have no choice but to strike.

✊ Unite Win - EPTA UK

Unite members at EPTA UK won a 2-year deal at above inflation worth a minimum of a 9% increase over the length of the deal.

Regional Officer Neil W said "Following long but productive pay talks the reps and members have won a significant increase in their basic pay and gives them an above inflation pay increase next year."

✊ Unite Win - Menzies Aviation

Reps and members at Menzies Aviation, who work in fuelling at Leeds Bradford Airport, have won a 12 month above-inflation pay increase back dated to March 2026 with agreement to benchmark on pay for 2027.

Regional Office Neil W said "This is a significant move forward for the members at Menzies and won by the commitment of the reps and the members in pushing for better pay parity in future pay talks."
