While the boss @tombarnwell is off on his hollibobs the choir decided a few drinks food and conversation was a worthy substitute for their weekly rehearsals.
We sang our hearts out while being entertained by @missbellaend what a treat for a thursday night.
Choir for us is not just about getting together and sing it is so much more.
It is friendship,connection, it is community and choosen family.
From next week we will be back together celebrating our first birthday and preparing for a very busy few months ahead.

❤️ Coventry Recovery Festival ❤️

Unity in Coventry are excited to announce we will be attending the first EVER Coventry Recovery Festival… TOMORROW!

Coventry's first ever Recovery Festival is a free, volunteer-led celebration, bringing together people in recovery from drug and alcohol use, their families and friends for a day of connection, learning and creativity.

The event will bring wellbeing activities, creative workshops, inspiring stories and access to support services!

💫🏆 BBC CWR Make a Difference Awards 🏆💫

We are only one week away from the BBC CWR Make a Difference Awards where Unity in Coventry are finalists for the Community Group award!! 😍

We are still so absolutely thrilled to not only be nominated for this but to also make it to the final, so once again a massive thanks to everybody who has supported us so far!

Over a month ago two of our Directors, Dee and Richard, were interviewed by BBC CWR and you can catch what they had to say here!

Regardless of the outcome, this time next week we will be gearing up to celebrate the achievements of so many other organisations and individuals, and we can’t wait!

This Friday, our friends at Coventry Trans Solidarity are hosting their new trans social event, Trans Spectrum! ❤️🏳️‍⚧️

Hosted on the first Friday of every month, Trans Spectrum is the ideal place for you to socialise with other trans people in the Coventry area and beyond! We hear there may also be some karaoke 👀

⭐️ Warwickshire Pride ⭐️

Last month on the 22nd August, Unity in Coventry had the pleasure of attending Warwickshire Pride for the second year in a row! 😍

Across the day, we met with many fabulous people, had some amazing interactions and more people than ever span our wheel!

Sharing this space with some other amazing organisations such as the Coventry Corsairs made the day even better!

Thank you to our Friends of Unity volunteers for the day as well, we would not have been able to do the day without you!

😍 WE ARE A FINALIST 😍

Unity in Coventry are super happy to announce that we are a finalist for the BBC CWR Make a Difference Awards!

We have been nominated in the “Community Group Award” section and have made it through rounds of selections to make it to the final, so this is a massive honour!

On the 12th June, we were invited by the BBC to be interviewed around the hard work Unity does to make a difference within Coventry, and we will find out in early September if we are a winner!

Unity does not do the work for the awards, we do it for the community, this is just an added bonus on top that we are so incredibly gracious for ❤️

Thank you to all of you who have came and shown up to our events, spread the good word around what we do and continue to support our work across the city of Coventry and beyond! This is for you!

Unity in Coventry stands in solidarity with those affected by the deeply concerning events that took place in Berlin.

Pride is about creating safe spaces where people are accepted and can be themselves. Pride is about community.

We are heartbroken that the LGBTQ+ community is still being targeted for being who we are. Our thoughts are with the families and friends in Berlin.

When one pride community is impacted, we all are.

‼️ Reporting Hate Crime ‼️

Today, members of the Unity in Coventry team met Ahmed from Equip to discuss how we could better our understanding of hate crime, what to report and how to report it.

Due to the rising levels of online hate directed towards the LGBTQ+ community, we have sought out as much guidance on how to deal with this as best as possible!

We discussed ways we could streamline our process and future outreach opportunities, as we want to do this every Wednesday!

🚨 Reporting LGBTQ+-Phobic Abuse 🚨

Year on year the levels of homophobic, transphobic, biphobic etc abuse rises but is never reported.

This has a lasting effect on the work done to stop this, as if there are no reports, then the work to stop it cannot be actioned and done.

Here at Unity in Coventry, we are taking a stand against these rising levels and working together to report the abuse, both in person and online.

Join us TOMORROW and EVERY Wednesday for an online reporting session where we tackle these issues head on!

United By Love 2026!

Me and my awesome community had THE best time at the @unityincov United by Love event!

Never in a million years did I think my name would be on a poster alongside the Cheeky Girls but that’s how crazy life is!

It’s always such a buzz being on stage but seeing members of my classes step out of their comfort zone and take to the stage fills me with so much pride!

Our classes aren’t elitist, about being the best dancer or showing off. They’re about having a laugh, supporting one another and lifting each other up.

I am so proud that we have created such a safe space for LGBTQ+ people to take care of their fitness and wellbeing!

Here’s to the next one!

❤ Community Panel Open Afternoon ❤

It has been a couple of weeks since we hosted United in Love 2026, and we want your feedback!

THIS Sunday we are hosting an open discussion afternoon at The Yard Coventry from 2pm to get your feedback around how United in Love felt this year, and what we can do to improve for next year! We will also love to understand how Unity in Coventry can continue to support the wider community going forward!

All feedback is valuable to us, this festival is for you, the community, so let us shape it for you!

🎤 UNITY IN COVENTRY CHOIR 🎤

Last Saturday at United in Love 2026, we had the incredible Unity in Coventry Choir perform as part of the festival, and what a performance it was!

Over the last year, our very own Tom has ran and coordinated the choir every Thursday at the Belgrade, training the group and ensuring they all go home happy after meeting and socialising with new people!

The Choir has really came into its own over the last year and we cannot wait to see where they go from here!

If you missed the Choir on Saturday, do NOT worry, as they will also be performing at Coventry Pride TOMORROW, Sunday June 28th at Fargo Village from 2pm, so do not miss it!
