Alchemy: a philosophical tradition that transforms base metals into gold (+ cure disease & prolong life too, periodd)

Well a few weeks ago, I had the privilege of working with a few alchemists…

Some who turn mundanity into moments to Dₐₙcₑ.

Others who transform an idea into a…

𝓦𝓸𝓻𝓵𝓭!

& those who’s mere presence is a…

𝒫𝓇𝑒𝓈𝑒𝓃𝓉 :}…

Then those who’s talents speak before they’ve

Had the chance to.

Each of these alchemists, and many many who I didn’t get a chance to mention,

Made something so special possible for me.

And so to every single person behind the scenes over at @topia.vision, @unmet.us, & @destinedmoments.co, to every person that showed up for the scene we were behind & donated, to every family member that has supported me into this wild journey… 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙤 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝.

It’s because of you that I’m in freaking London at 11pm writing this.

And to myself— girl I guess hard work does work even when you’re too impatient to see it’s magic, you alchemist.

This documentation takes its conceptual departure from Ntozake Shange’s 2011 essay collection, extending her meditation on artistic awakening into a contemporary visual and spatial inquiry. Shange’s writing positions jazz, movement, and image-making as technologies through which Black life articulates itself beyond prescribed limitations.

Convergence 001: Lost in Language & Sound
Featuring works by artists Lena Eglab & Sasha Corin
In collaboration with Nyleve Henry of @looksforlease & designer @malenaruth_!

On view & available to experience until September 13th

Shot by @xostephbell

Lena El-Gabalawy is a multi-media artist who takes root between the Bay and LA areas.

Her practice is best described as documentation and expression of love, remembrance, and homage.

Lena’s lens is informed by her life experiences and is geared towards capturing the beauty in candid life.

Through the dedication of creative director and L4L founder @nyleve.laurent & fashion designer Malena Ruth, our teams were able to bring the feel of Lena’s work into a new realm. Converging her story into wearable art.

Sasha Corin is an abstract artist based in Los Angeles whose practice explores the intersections of identity, memory, and contemporary culture.

Through an evolving visual language, Corin considers the ways personal and collective experiences are translated, preserved, and communicated through abstract paintings.

Featuring works garnered through inspiration from poets like R.H Sin, personal reflection, and presence— Corin’s multi-scale collection of works explore personal vulnerability and exploration.

With the largest piece standing at 5ft in height, and the biggest inspiration for the full collection, being titled ‘Ode to Self’.

With the creative direction of @nyleve.laurent & the garment design by fashion designer Malena Ruth, Sasha’s ‘Ode to Self’ piece finds itself further translating beyond the canvas onto an hand painted asymmetrical button up designed for those seeking a reminder of who they’re placed here to be.

With the fashion design background of our founder @mikaylalrodriguez, this collaboration with @nyleve.laurent and her flagship brick and mortar for @looksforlease only felt right. Each coming together to seek ways to push the possibility of what art transcending the walls could truly look like.

Then became the birth of Convergence, an art + fashion initiative; which is meant to observe the ways in which art and fashion can operate as forms of expression, documentation, and cultural exc taken in Beverly Center by @unmet.us

Meet artist Todd Alexander (@toddalexanderstudio)!

A few weeks ago, Todd was a featured artist for The Meeting. Our budding docuseries where we sit with artists and creatives during the becoming stages of their process.

The following article and video content can be explored on our Substack!

Todd builds what he identifies as landscapes, before beginning the dye process.
Which features methodical folding and draping of the fibers.

& while looking at the piece from above, observing its channels, ridges, valleys are meant to mimic terrain — so that when the ice melts, the dye has somewhere intentional to go.

In addition to being a textile artist, Todd is also a medically trained chiropractor. Which reveals itself as the actual key to understanding his love for the process.

A huge through line with Todd is that he doesn’t shy away from methodically assessing through process. And even sees completion or failure as a tool for feedback.

Todd’s process deeply moved our founder, Mikayla Rodriguez (@mikaylalrodriguez) to exhibit his work as the driver of our theme for an upcoming benefit concert with @topia.vision.

As a beacon of stillness even when exploring deep unknowns, Todd’s work will be featured in support of Los Angeles’ creative community and help fundraise for international post graduate education at this Saturday’s benefit.

Join us in experiencing Todd Alexander’s one day installation! RSVP available via on TOPIA’s application.

We hope to see you there! taken in Los Angeles, California by @unmet.us

Artist bio
Anchored in the legacy of Compton’s cultural resilience and shaped in the shadow of the Watts Towers, Ashley Cole’s practice weaves together abstraction, assemblage, and gesture into expansive, sculptural paintings. Her canvases—often draped, cut, and stitched—engage the improvisational language of jazz, echoing the sonic freedom of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Influenced by Abstract Expressionism and the spatial poetics of artists like Sam Gilliam, Cole constructs visual compositions that unfold like psychological terrains and spiritual manuscripts. Textural surfaces—burnt edges, raw canvas, automatist markings, and geometric linework in metallics and pastels—become repositories for song lyrics, numerologies, and graffiti-inspired ciphers. Twine and thread, recalling her training in fashion design at Brooks College, bind these works together in acts of both deconstruction and repair. Cole’s evolving canvases are at once deeply personal and socially resonant—meditations on memory, fragmentation, and transformation in an age of rupture and reconfiguration.
