of all the things i do for my kids, starting a homeschool co op in our yard alongside our teachers has been the most powerful for their foundation. it made me realize how much of modern childhood is built around adult convenience instead of what children are biologically, emotionally, and developmentally designed to need.we take tiny humans who are literally wired for movement, attachment, play, curiosity, rest, sunlight, slowness, and connection and tell them to spend most of their waking hours sitting still under fluorescent lights, constantly transitioning, constantly evaluated, constantly separated from family and from themselves. when they hate it, they are called the problem??!! how backwards is that? this whole process has showed me that children actually want to learn. naturally. relentlessly. they ask questions all day long. they are born curious. but curiosity starts dying when learning becomes disconnected from real life and replaced with performance, pressure, reward systems, behavior charts, and constant comparison.i know so many people say that homeschool kids are sheltered, but what is wrong with protecting l their love of learning, their nervous systems, and their sense of self before the world teaches them to abandon those things for approval?! if you’re thinking of starting a backyard homeschool co op and feel inspired follow me @untamedmothering and @meadowdreamscoop and we build a whole child curriculum for you 🍓‼️✨☀️ by @untamedmothering

the most telling part of the homeschool debate isn’t the disagreement. it’s the weird ragey outrage that happens when parents would choose to spend more time with their own children.separation has become to wildly normal that closeness now looks extreme. in all aspects of motherhood. follow along for all the different ways you can homeschool 🌻✨ by @untamedmothering

you guyssss for real you don’t have to like my parenting choices. you don’t have to agree with them or be here. but expecting me to water down my community so everyone feels represented completely misses the point of creating a space for under represented moms. also imagine threatening to out me for being against sleep training but i’m willingly outing myself everyday 🧑🏻‍🩰🪄✨ by @untamedmothering

the sleep training rebrand lol a “gentle” approach to not responding. maybe the aesthetic of their instagram is cuter and the promise becomes more comfortable to a vulnerable, exhausted mom. but guys be for real. the method still depends on your baby crying for you while you intentionally delay or withhold the response they’re asking for. its fair to ask how different it really ishave we become so uncomfortable with babies needing us at night that we’ve created endless strategies to convince parents that responding less is somehow the more loving choice? you can’t reprogram a baby’s biological need for you. when our babies wake for comfort, regulation, closeness, or reassurance, i don’t see that as a sleep problem to solve. it will always be relationship to nurture.you don’t have to outsource your instincts because someone promised a “gentler” version of ignoring them. follow along @untamedmothering for all the connected motherhood vibes @freepeople shorts@urbanoutfitters tank@americaneagle bandana@khaite bag by @untamedmothering

i mean if we didn’t call it “school” would it be normal? everyone gets offended when someone says schools resemble prisons. instead of wondering why the comparison exists.if two institutions share certain structural features, parents should feel free to ask whether those features serve children’s development or to make large systems easier to manage 👀if you’re questioning societal norms since having kids, follow me @untamedmothering for all that good stuff 🍓🩵 by @untamedmothering

no but really what it’s the it? their need for comfort? their instinct to seek the person they’ve depended on since before birth? their fear of being alone? their overwhelm? their biology?people says babies are manipulating us but be for real how does a baby whose literal survival depends on staying close to their caregiver manipulate by asking to be held?i meannnn maybe their cries are actually communication since you know they can’t talk. when we say “cry it out,” what are we really hoping disappears?the crying? the need behind it? those are not the same thing.so really genuinely curious. when you say “cry it out,” what is the “it” you believe they’re crying out? :) if you’re here for responsive parenting follow me @untamedmothering i’ll hype you up 🙃🫶🏻 by @untamedmothering

i want to say that most of things were already understood but since we started our homeschool co op @meadowdreamscoop my beliefs have been reinforced. our co-op didn’t just change how i see education. going the alternative school route was always the dream. it altered the way i see childhood. it made me realize how much we’ve normalized that doesn’t serve children, how much we’ve forgotten, and how deeply children long for simple things: time, connection, nature, belonging, community. if you’re longing to start a homeschool community follow me @untamedmothering for all the inspo and curriculum by @untamedmothering

this is my fourth pregnancy and at this point everyone just leaves me alone 😂1. breastfeeding. im still nursing my baby and guess what? it isn’t my first time. this is the third time im breastfeeding pregnant. 2. no prenatals. i eat nutrient dense foods and supplement with individual supplements that i can tell im not getting. 3. one ultrasound at 20 weeks. for me personally they feel invasive. i typically cry through that 20 week one bc i have felt the babies get overwhelmed. 4. i treat pregnancy like a spiritual event and not a medical one. 5. no vaccines for me. they actually haven’t been tested on pregnant woman. ever. obviously there are some OBs that see pregnancy outside the lens of trained surgeons 🫶🏻if this is your vibe follow along @untamedmothering for all the homebirth breastfeeding content 🍒🐞✨ by @untamedmothering
