“flicker”with my friend @geography_music on vocals and @jenz90 on strings is one of those songs… sometimes you have to persist and then you end up with something better than you could of imagined. by @upsidedownhead_

The first date I have on this song is December 9, 2019. I can’t believe I’ve been sitting on this for 6 years… I just didn’t know how to present this amazing sample. I worked closely with my friend @bnjmncrbtt … and we threw the kitchen sink at it. You hear space echo feedback, moogs, old drum machines and my Juno 60 + a multitude of experiments. One day I decided to do my favourite thing and re-harmonise and I found this little moving arp, this lead to the final end point. This is an ode to one of my fav artists… @weval_. Along with various other alternate experimental artists, they definitely played a role in shaping my approach. by @upsidedownhead_

It all started with sharing a sample I had cut up with @bnjmncrbtt. He sent back the original bass line and some ideas. We went back a fourth a lot. @this_is_elmar heard this and had some inspiration to flesh it out that I think put the icing on the cake of a beautiful song.
Then 2 years or trying to capture the right feeling and 50 versions later we ended up here… by @upsidedownhead_

So excited this has been released. Amazing work @verabluemusic and @lucyhealeymusic. Amazing work @ericjdub @islandau and @right_hand_management. Honestly… just one of those creative moments that just worked. @verabluemusic drove this and is the realisation of her vision IMO. by @upsidedownhead_

Listening back to my album after release is rare—I usually never revisit it. But this song with @annaleeworthy and @this_is_elmar really sticks with me.

It started with me and Anna building the first section around a lyric about a friend of hers who was struggling with addiction. I hit a wall knowing it needed a shift, and that’s when Jack jumped in. We pretty much freestyled part B on the spot, and later I added that Boards-of-Canada-esque hook.

This track came together with such natural flow, and I hope it brings a little light to anyone feeling stuck in a cycle. by @upsidedownhead_
