DAY 2: We had a fun day out exploring Malibu pier, beach and the Getty Villa then back for the culminating Gala for the Indiewood Film Festival. With over 400 films screened over 7 days, it was a packed event and I met some fun people. Wish I could have seen more of the films presented. What I was able to see was well curated.
Today we head back to the Bay Area but I am squeezing in one more event at The Broad Modern Art Museum which is hosting a Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind exhibition. I will post a few photos of both museums on FB later. taken in TCL Chinese Theatres by @upswingdance

Day 1 in LA: Made it to the @indiewoodfilmfestival just in time to see my time slot for ALONETOGETHER. It was better than I could have imagined. On the big screen, the clarity and sound was so good. I love this film festival. It is truly great to see one's film on the big screen and in a great theater. Then off we went to dinner at @taola It is a beautiful Asian restaurant that accommodated for my vegan requests with stunning results. Love this place. Ending a long day back at the hotel with views of downtown LA and the Hollywood sign. Oh and look at that 20 layer pineapple coconut cake! Wowza! by @upswingdance

“AloneTogether” is a dance of classic beauty, athleticism and touching poignancy; it’s also a work of art created in the time of pandemic. “AloneTogether” is a dance inspired by the limitations of isolation and possibilities of connecting without touch. From start to finish, the musical score, the choreography and the editing took less than one month.

I am thrilled to say that Carla Lucero will compose the music for a new aerial dance piece in 2027. Looking forward to working together.
For more about Carla...

Her work is concentrated in opera, ballet and chamber music, and her compositional style has been described as complex, and highly melodic, drawing upon the Romantic and Neo-Classical periods, as well as from Flamenco music. She is recognized for incorporating period instruments and indigenous percussion into her orchestration. taken in UpSwing Aerial Dance & Company by @upswingdance

While visiting family in Louisiana I saw this sign at a restaurant with outdoor seating and couldn't resist taking the photo.
How would you have reacted to this as a kid? Settled down? 🫢 Or gotten wilder? 😏 by @upswingdance
