Sarah and @chefaaronmelendrez celebrated five years of @uptown_provisions with a community block party that had free rides, games, experiences and crafts for kids. They also brought out a lot of fellow food vendors and turned their block in Uptown Whittier into a festival this past Sunday.

I had a great time joining Aaron and Sarah Melendrez, the Uptown Provisions team, and the Whittier community for High Five Fest, a community block party celebrating five years in Uptown Whittier.
I was proud to present Uptown Provisions with a California State Senate Certificate of Recognition for creating local jobs, supporting local businesses, and investing in our community.
Congratulations on five years and wish you continued success.

Bringing Art Haus to Uptown Provision’s 5-year anniversary was pure magic

Watching everyone jump into creating made my whole heart full..

When it comes to the way I curate these events everything has to have a meaning.

•The Sandwich: I cutout ingredients out of construction paper where everyone got to build their own paper sando.

•5-Year High Fives: Cutout hands brought to life with color and drawings from so many sweet faces to celebrate five years in the biz

•Custom Pins: A Custom pin-designing station where people can put their own art on a pin

•Custom Uptown Provision's coloring pages

And a whole lot of Art Haus merch making its way into the wild!

Moments like this hit different. Seeing the kids light up, feeling the immense kindness from parents, and hearing your encouraging words reminded me why I started this. You all gave me a newfound belief in myself and the fire to keep creating, teaching, and growing.

A massive thank you to Chef Aaron, Sarah, and Rio for bringing me into such an incredible milestone. Celebrating 5 years of Uptown Provision alongside you was an honor!

Here’s to community, creativity, and keeping the arts alive. Thank you, Whittier! ✨

Thanks to my husband for always helping me @drdoughnuts
Thanks to @jusjayson for helping me making this run smoothly and for being the artist you are. by @uptown_provisions

Five years ago, we opened the doors with no guarantees just a belief that great food and genuine hospitality could build something sacred in a community.

This morning looked a lot like thousands of mornings before it. A caffeine dose before prep begins. High fives in the kitchen. Catering and those first orders headed out the door. The flow that built Uptown Provisions.

And somehow… here we are.

On Sunday, September 13, we’re closing the street to celebrate with the people who made all of this possible.

Expect guest chefs, a vintage market, community vendors, music, a butterfly ranch, kids creating art, the Sando Circuit preview, exclusive merch, a few surprises, and a whole lot of high fives.

HIGH FIVE FEST

Five Years Later… We’re Still Just Getting Started.

This is only the beginning.

Part Two is coming. ✋
