🧡 Painting with Story | First year @usask.isap students were invited to an interactive art and storytelling event with Syndel Thomas Kozar on Sept. 28 in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Thomas Kozar encouraged students to participate in making canvas magnets which reflected their personal stories.

“Truth and reconciliation is not just about reflecting on the past but also reflecting on ourselves and our current position in society,” Thomas Kozar said.

Syndel Thomas Kozar (BA’26) is a néhiyaw/settler artist, storyteller, advocate, community builder and member of One Arrow First Nation. She is a current graduate student in the Department of Indigenous Studies. She also holds a BA (double honours) in Indigenous Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies.

Thomas Kozar is also the recipient of a 2026 Peter Stoicheff ISAP Undergraduate Leadership Award in recognition of her contributions to building a community of learning. This award helped create the opportunity to hold this event.

Welcome to the Fall Term! A few things to keep in mind:

You can add Fall classes (or drop them with a 100% tuition credit) until Sept. 16, 2026. Check the USask students website (or the link in our bio) for more information about deadlines.

Joining a class from a waitlist is time sensitive. Watch your USask email!

Reading your course syllabus can help you decide if schedule changes are needed.

Only you have the power to register yourself in classes—but an academic advisor can help answer questions.

You can monitor your current program progress in Degree Works. (Find it in the Arts and Science Students Channel in PAWS).

The Arts and Science Students Channel is a central hub for your journey in the college. Check it often!
