🎉 What an incredible week for the National Academy of Inventors community and #USCInventors at the NAI 15th Annual Conference! As host of #NAI2026, USC proudly welcomed inventors from around the world to Los Angeles to celebrate the discoveries, inventions, and innovations shaping the future. ✨ The week began with a memorable Welcome Reception featuring USC President Beong-Soo Kim, USC Trustee Mark A. Stevens, and the USC Trojan Marching Band. A special highlight was NAI President Paul R. Sanberg presenting the inaugural Innovation Philanthropy Award to Mr. Stevens in recognition of his extraordinary commitment to supporting inventors and advancing technology commercialization. 💡 Inspiring keynotes, fireside chats, and thought-provoking panels brought together leaders from academia, industry, and government to showcase the power of innovation and collaboration. 🏅 We also celebrated the induction for the NAI Class of 2025 Fellows and Class of 2026 Senior Members including 3 Fellows and 13 Senior Members from USC, and President Kim, Mr. Stevens, Dr. Ishwar Puri, and Dr. David Agus as new NAI Honorary Members. 👏 Congratulations to the NAI Class of 2025 Fellows and Class of 2026 Senior Members on their inductions! 🙏 Thanks to the NAI for an unforgettable week, for this incredible hosting opportunity, and for your continued impact in recognizing and celebrating academic researchers worldwide. by @uscstevens

The Dual Use Hackathon, hosted by Innovate x LA and the Grand Challenge Scholars Program at #USC, is the premier event to innovate for resiliency, safety, and infrastructure. 🎉 We’re excited to welcome Rebecca Skalla, PhD, to the USC Stevens Center as a Technology Licensing Manager, where she brings deep expertise in the physical sciences. 🔋 Bec's scientific background spans inorganic materials for sustainable energy, including metal-organic porous materials for carbon capture and metallic nanoparticle electrocatalysts for CO₂ reduction. Before joining the University of Southern California, she supported #patent preparation and prosecution at a large national law firm, working across engineering, materials science, and chemical technologies. She earned her PhD and MS in Chemistry from Indiana University and her BA in Chemistry from the University of Colorado. ✌ We’re thrilled to have Bec’s scientific and intellectualproperty expertise. Getting a clear MRI can be especially challenging for the smallest patients: babies.  USC researchers are working to change that with low-cost, 3D-printed MRI coils using silver ink that can be customized to fit a patient’s size and produced in less than 10 minutes — and at a fraction of the cost. The customized coils can help produce affordable, high-quality MRI scans with improved signal capture and image quality.
