Back in autumn 2024, @utr.oslo opened their doors for our very first indoor Nomadic Chai, and it’s felt like home ever since. On November 2021 the first event by the Under the Rug name was officially (yet privately) released. In many ways a modest gathering for around 250 people, from 21:00 - 03:00 in downtown Oslo; The event bosted 2 distinct musical stages, broadly speaking divided into House and Techno, with 3 DJs performing on each. Already then the idea was to add new life into the stablished club culture of Oslo, by having an event with longer opening hours than a regular club, at a white box location that could be fully personalized to the experience, and aiming at inducing a multidisiplinary touch to it by having 4 distinct art installations. From then on the event has kept evolving and expanding in different directions, but our aim has always remained horizontal growth rather than vertical; - Our opening hours saw several iterations, from the original 21:00 - 03:00, to 19:00 - 03:00, to 17:00 - 01:00 + separate Afterhours - The event expanded from 1 day to 2 days - We have been at 7 unique locations, many of whom are not open to the public otherwise, thus giving each edition a trully unique feel. - The program has evolved to include opening and closing conserts. - The program has shifted its focus from mostly digital DJs, to mostly Live and analog acts. - The program has expanded to include a big % international acts - etc. The initial 250 people are now a consistent 700+ people per event across 2 days. ... Since last year, a lot of less obvious behind the scene developements have been taking place, beyond the event itself to the whole network around it, including: - Creation of this Instagram account on Mars 2025, finally getting on with the times :(( - Activation of our Soundcloud channel, serving as a sound archive allowing you to re-live key sonoric moments from past editions. The new line of UTR merch is now out for grabs! Made in Portugal out of heavy duty, fair-traded, organic cotton, and screen-printed using eco-friendly water based colors! OBS OBS: The latest edition of UTR merch, aka the jumper and the new tshirt, will be the last UTR clothing items we will make for a while. With what now acounts to 3 tshirt, 1 long sleeve and 1 jumper under our belt, we feel all the basic needs have been covered. We started Esperanto and by proxy Under the Rug as an alternative and counterbalance to the "standard" and to the "stablished"; With clear enviromental and ethical pillars, and trying to detach from the endless buy buy buy mentality... A new clothing item (independent of its material and production) every single UTR edition aint simply in touch with our core values and long term goals. ❤ It goes without saying that we are very gratefull and honored by the great response the merch has received. It's trully a hearwarming feeling when we see someone wearing one of the items "out in the wild"; the revenue from the merch has also helped greatly to ease the economic burden of the events!!... But our way is not that of new, more or bigger each time. 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦 Boasting a whooping 14h of high-quality curated content spread over 2 days, Under the Rug stands among the lengthiest and most feature dense events in Oslo. This long format allows us to fully unfold the artistic tapestry we been carefully weaving, while also giving our guest enough breathing room to acclimatize and fully immerse in the experience. That said, we understand there are those among you always wanting to "squeeze more juice out the lemon", therefore we are happy to announce our signature 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦! aka official afterparty, taking place on Saturday (technically Sunday) from 02:00 - 06:00, adding 4 extra hours of bliss after the main event concludes. With us this time are none other our very own @arikas.javel and @catnip.mp4.iguess; two key UTR crew members on the roles of Multimedia Manager and Stage Manager respectively. OBS: To get an invite to the afterparty you must first have purchased a ticket to the main event. Next wave of invites to the afterparty will be sent on Monday 7th September by email to all then-current main event ticket holders. 𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗘𝗟 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗨𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 Friday 20:15 - 21:15 @ Zen Garden Norwegian pianist and composer @vetlenaero joins us for a conversation about the creative mind and life as a full-time artist. We will open with a visualization exercise, talk about what creativity is, being creative when there's no obvious use for it, and the value of co-creating. This will be an open discussion with a Q&A, hosted by @sinasthesia , a young researcher and multimedia artist. 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦 Vetle Nærø is a Norwegian pianist and composer from Ålesund. He has released four solo albums since 2018, working at the intersection of contemporary classical, minimalism, and ambient music. His work is rooted in emotional honesty and intensity, treating music as a means of making sense of the world around us. - Sina Schüttler is interested in dissolving separations between research fields, artistic media and ways of thinking. With a background in psychology, community health, and data science, she works across several intellectual and community-based projects. For the 6th release in our Droplets from Under The Rug podcast series, we present a recording of @manamii.b 's DJ set, captured during her performance at Under The Rug on April 4th, 2026, at @stavebryn in Oslo. As the second day of the event unfolded, @manamii.b guided the room through a deep and immersive journey, weaving together low-end frequencies, broken rhythms, dub textures, and hypnotic grooves. Rooted in bass music, her sound moves effortlessly through breakbeat, techno, and progressive influences. For the 5th release in our Droplets from Under The Rug podcast series, we present a recording from @son.du.maquis, captured during his live performance at Under The Rug on April 4th, 2026, at @stavebryn in Oslo. As the second day of the event unfolded, @son.du.maquis guided listeners into a deep and immersive journey through the many dimensions of dub. Moving beyond genre conventions, his set revealed dub as a living and evolving language, one capable of connecting roots, experimentation and contemporary sound system culture into a singular narrative. Using the mixer as an instrument in the true spirit of dub’s pioneers, Dubs sculpted a landscape of deep basslines, reverberations, echoes, sirens and fractured rhythms. Seamlessly weaving together influences born from dub’s foundations, he transformed the room into a space where time stretched, textures dissolved and every sound seemed suspended between memory and motion. The result was a hypnotic and deeply meditative experience, one that embodied the spirit of Under The Rug. !𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗢𝗡 𝗕𝗜𝗢!
