Our industrial designer @mcardle_designs recently ran two Industrial Design sketching workshops at UTS Open Day, sharing tips and techniques with current and future design students.  As a studio, we’re always looking for ways to give back to the places that taught us our craft, and opportunities like this are a great way to dive deeper into the hard skills that remain essential in our workflow.  Thanks to @utsdab and @utsproductdesign and to all the students who joined in. by @utsproductdesign

Got bored of light switches so decided to design and prototype the, ‘Illumisense Lighting Control’ for @utsdab Smart Design class.

Imagine controlling your home or venue’s lighting by interacting with a malleable panel. The colours and brightness of a room’s lights are influenced by pressure sensors embedded within the panel, which respond to your touch. The harder you press or the area you focus on determines how the lighting changes—soft touches may gradually dim the lights, while firmer pressure can intensify brightness or shift hues. The panel’s dynamic flexibility lets you shape the lighting in real-time, offering an intuitive and customisable lighting experience, all at your fingertips.

This was a great challenge to learn beginner C++ coding concepts, and play with soft 3D printing materials on the @utsprotospace Polyjet. by @utsproductdesign

Congratulations to Vincent Tsang on being recognised in the @ausdesignreview 30UNDER30 program!

This year’s cohort celebrates designers who go beyond aesthetics, creating meaningful impact through self-awareness and a deep connection to their work.

As part of the program, Vince will attend a high-performance leadership and creative retreat in May. This immersive experience will provide mentorship, fresh perspectives, and a space to connect with fellow designers shaping the future of the industry.

Vince brings his passion for culture and research to every Vert project, and we’re proud to have him as part of our industrial design team. 👏🏼

Anthony Harrison @tony.harrison.design is designing to make a difference!

For his final-year project in the Bachelor of Design Honours (Product Design), Anthony designed a reusable endoscope—a camera-enabled device used to look inside the human body. His innovative approach combines sustainability with impactful healthcare design, showcasing how creativity can solve real-world challenges.
