Join us in congratulating Dr. Marina Mourtzakis!   The @uwaterlookhs professor has been named a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair, one of the highest research honours in Canada, supported by $1.4 million in funding for her research on muscle health. 🎉   Her research shows that muscles do way more than help you lift: They play a big role in how well people recover from serious illnesses like cancer. Using imaging, Mourtzakis tracks muscle health to understand how nutrition and exercise can help patients stay stronger and recover better. Join the Kinesiology and Health Sciences Department for a seminar featuring Dr. Sean Meehan, Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Undergraduate Studies. Dr. Meehan's research focuses on brain plasticity and the neural control of movement. His projects use non-invasive methods, like transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electroencephalography (EEG), to study the neural correlates of performance and skill learning in healthy and clinical populations. His current focus is centered on how different brain systems underlying motor control/learning interact to determine brain plasticity with an emphasis on enhancing stroke rehabilitation. All are welcome to attend the seminar. See you there! 📅 Wednesday, October 21 🕝 2:30-3:30 PM 📍 LHS 1621 by @uwaterlookhs
