UWL 30 Rising Stars: Creative Careers

Max graduated from UWL’s Content, Media and Film Production course in 2023. Since then, he has embarked on a freelance career as a videographer, photographer and Creative Director.

Max began building his career at 18 years old, taking the lessons he learned at UWL to pursue creative opportunities. He has toured the world with artists such as King Princess, Charlotte Sands, and RØRY. He has also led shoots with The Script, filmed Boyzone’s last ever show at the Emirates Stadium, and worked on the BBC’s Eurovision 2025 campaign.

Beyond music, Max edits the @late.bloomers.pod podcast, bringing candid conversations about neurodivergence, relationships and personal growth to people who may recognise their own experiences in them.

UWL 30 Rising Stars: Creative Careers

Not long after graduating from UWL with a degree in Radio and Digital Media, Siân won Gold in the Charles Parker Prize for her radio documentary A Young Self In A Small Town. The documentary earned her a place on the @bbcradio4 Internship, kickstarting a career in broadcast radio.

For the past four years, Siân has worked as a Radio Producer for @bbcasiannetwork. Her work has covered everything from the @westmidlandspolice to the city of Birmingham during the Commonwealth Games.

Siân uses her experience and achievements to educate and support others. Not only does she work closely with UWL’s Student’s Union Radio, but she also established a radio club in local primary schools. The club introduces children to broadcasting and gives them an insight into a career in the media industries.

Naz Sheikh is a professional actor, a career he came to after working as a flight dispatcher for London City Airport. In 2016 he left this job to become a full-time carer for his wife, before returning to Drama Studio London to study acting.

In 2026, Naz performed and helped to produce FLIGHT: One Man's Journey. This one-man show speaks to Naz' Bangladeshi roots and won Best in Fringe at the Greater Manchester Fringe. He has since toured Brighton, Greater Manchester, Buxton, Camden, and Windsor.

As a mature student who balanced his studies with caring responsibilities, Naz' story demonstrates that it's never too late to pursue your dreams.

UWL 30 Rising Stars: Creative Careers

After graduating from the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre course in 2025, Yara made her professional and West End debut as Nessarose in Wicked.

Having already secured representation from a talent agency before graduation, Yara rose to a principal role in a beloved musical remarkably early in her career, a testament to her talent, rigorous training, and determination to succeed.

Yara is also the first Filipina to play Nessarose in the West End, showing that international students can find a place at the highest levels of British theatre and beyond.
