Being a leader means being a voice even when it’s uncomfortable! With that being said I took steps to make myself uncomfortable to help @ryerson_u students. I have SO many events and programs planned for you. The first being the SHIFT Centre( @shiftcentretmu ) opening this Monday. A wellness space that fosters an environment for accessible education and building community. I will also be hosting my monthly member meetings out of there so come make #succulents with me 🤷🏽‍♀️🤫🌵. Also keep an eye out because I’ve partnered with @ocaduniversity and we’ll be hosting an art exhibit during social justice week 👏🏾 this is just the beginning there is so much more behind the scenes that Were working on. I came. I saw. I mastered 🎓

This degree means the world to me, my family, and my community. Completing this degree meant breaking generational curses, and pushing past stereotypes and statistics of who Black students are.

Where Im from Black students were not encouraged to succeed. Our realities were related to violence, crime, pregnancy, and poverty. Education represented an escape from that life. I AM SO PROUD of what I accomplished but more than anything I am motivated to continue to do the work so that Im not the first-and last but that other Black kids from the “hood” know that they can so this shit to.

My siblings were my inspiration for this paper, I’m so blessed to have such a strong support system in them 🤎🥹💐🇯🇲 taken in University of Toronto by @v1letter
