When my September race got cancelled and my tattoo artist happens to be in town for a convention. I mean, the Universe pretty much made me do it.
@caitybugink is amazing. She banged all this out in one day and it didn’t even hurt (😂). When I looked at the finished product for the first time, I had a response that wasn’t even on my radar. I looked at myself and just left like, yeah, this is me. With tears in my eyes, I told her it was the most I’ve ever looked like myself. And that was such a strong thing to feel.
Anyway, she’s the best, and if you ever have the chance, you should get tattooed by her. by @v_remmel

USAT Nationals was such a wild time. Such a simultaneously empowering and humbling experience.

I was in way over my head even thinking about competing against these amazing athletes. But I did great (for me). At least as well as I could right now. I saw my training pay off (thanks @ryanmiller34 and @maverick.running.community ). Got a PR in my 10k run, which was so far from my mind after shredding my legs on the last couple miles of the bike-uphill with a strong off the water headwind. Up until that point, I was having a strong bike ride as well- definitely hitting some top speeds for myself (thanks Howard @actionbikes_sa )

A few mishaps. Goggles almost fell off at the beginning of the swim. Had to tread water and put them back on while I watched my pack swim away from me. And then I got a bloody nose out of nowhere during the first few miles of the bike. It stopped eventually. But not before getting blood all over me. (You can see the beginning of it in the bike photo and the blood on my arm and face in the run photo). To be honest, even though it sucked to not be able to drink or take nutrition while I was mouth breathing with the bloody nose, it was one of my favorite parts of the race. It was so not even on my radar of possibilities. I had to really figure it out. When life hands you an excuse to stop, what do you do? I guess I keep going. And I really loved that.

The farther I get from the event, the more proud I am that I did it. It was all in all a ridiculous endeavor. From the driving cross country there to the racing to the driving home in record time. But that’s what makes life fun for me. Who would I be if I didn’t do ridiculous things?

And if you made it this far, thanks for getting through my ramblings. I owe you a high 5 the next time I see you. by @v_remmel

Had my first triathlon of the season a few weeks ago. I finished 13th out of 215❤️. Just a local sprint race, but it’s always a good way to ease into the season and work out kinks in the transitions.
This was my first triathlon after getting a running coach, and I’m super stoked about how comfortable the run felt. Honestly, it’s the most comfortable I have ever felt on the run segment and I PR’d my 5k time on it ❤️❤️ Soooo awesome to see the training pay off.
Next race is in a couple weeks. It’s Olympic length and more competitive, so I’m suuuuper excited to see how it goes!

These tools from @makedo are so awesome. The boys were absolutely tantruming five minutes ago but the package arrived to save the day. They’ve never used them before and after a quick “performance” are using them completely on their own. #dinomight is making a fortress. #theocho is making an invention. “Construction is fun.” by @v_remmel

Hey kids. This is a reminder to WEAR YOUR HELMET. It started raining 25 miles into my 80 mile ride and I slid out going around a turn. Skidded prob 10-15 ft before stopping and hit my head on impact. (Huge shout out to my new friend Megan who I literally heard running down the path after she saw me crash. She was so so incredibly kind.)
Anyway. I hit my head hard enough that my immediate thought was oh fuck I hit my head thank god I’m wearing a helmet.
The second picture is the inside of my shorts. I had my credit card in the side pocket. You can see the outline of where there isn’t blood. It literally saved my ass.
And of course I have to share the carnage of my road rash. Because #cyclist
I got real emotional while @mikechoiart and the boys came to rescue me because if that had been my skull instead of my helmet, I’d be in a bad, bad way right now.
It could have been way, way worse and I’m so grateful it wasn’t.

Dang that race was hard. The heat was hard. The heat took all my energy and rolled it up into a ball and dropped kicked it to the stratosphere.
I damned the Texas heat the entire race. And afterwards, as I wept in the shade of a folding table (either from exhaustion or some emotional release I don’t have the energy to process yet), I told myself I would never race in ducking Texas again.
But… now it feels like a new challenge. Train in the heat to race in the heat. Which sounds horrible because I thrive in the cold and clouds and rain and snow. But if I can do it once, I can do it again… better.
But I’m not so insane that I will do my Ironman here. Lol. You people are nuts. by @v_remmel

In a little over a month I’ll be riding 150 miles over two days to raise funds for MS research as part of an event put on by the MS society.
You may or may not know my younger brother has MS, so this research is especially meaningful to me and my family.
Thanks to everyone who has already so generously donated. If you’d like to contribute with a donation, the link is in my bio.
I feel like every other word I’m writing here is working against me with the algorithm, so if you could share this, that’d be helpful too.
Thanks people! 🩵🩵🩵

“I’m a real triathlon.”
Finally did it. My first real triathlon. Crushed my goal of 2 hours. Im pretty proud of myself. I worked really hard and left it all on the course. Like the organizer said, I’ll never forget the race that made me a triathlete.
Thanks @mikechoiart, @wyliemegatron, @ollietyrannosaurus for cheering me on and helping me train. And @trinowendurance for putting on the well-organized race. And my swim coach Doug for helping me swim more than 25m consecutively and all my masters teammates who were crazy enough to be up and swimming at 5 am. And Bike World Alamo Heights for the bike and all the info and help (whom I can’t tag bc they’re changing ownership) but they’re awesome. by @v_remmel
