As we anxiously await the arrival of our debut album “Peeling an Orange in Just one Go”, we wanted to remind you all that it’s available for pre-order. The first run of the record will be printed on bone-coloured vinyl and if purchased from the @atease webshop you’ll receive your copy signed by us as well. These orders will also include an exclusive art print and a carefully constructed lyrics zine. What’s not to love, right? Peeling an Orange in Just one go is going to be available on vinyl, CD and cassette. We’re so proud of this album and of how far we’ve come since we started to write these songs. We can’t wait for you to hear it in its entirety.

I’ve always had a difficult relationship with anger. Not with feeling or experiencing it, but with allowing myself to feel and express it. I’ve always felt uncomfortable with taking up space to voice it, to handle the confrontation of people perceiving my anger, to deal with the fact that it often wouldn’t be taken seriously at all. Moving through the world in a body that isn’t a man’s, it almost feels like you always have to have a perfect and rational reason for expressing any emotion that isn’t seen as likeable, beautiful or feminine. And I’ve had no idea how big of an impact this has had on me until I started unpacking this in therapy.

Writing about these inner conflicts is extremely freeing, putting them out into the world in form of song is entirely different. I’ve been so nervous around the release of this new song and also about the upcoming album since it houses so many raw emotions I’ve never really addressed publicly before. It’s scary to be perceived. And even more so in a society that doesn’t necessarily favour doing so. I’ve been extremely inspired by the people around me who aren’t as afraid as I am. And I’m happy to know I’m not alone in this. Please keep being vocal about who you are and what you want. Take up space to be vocal about injustice, and especially give space to those who isn’t given any. Look out for each other. I think it’s now that we need it the most. by @vacantlotstudio

This event is all about the community, and that includes the amazing Lot van Teylingen from @thisislibrarycard who made an amazing custom illustration which we screenprinted into a very limited run of 40x50cm prints.  Profits will be donated to 113 Fonds Zelfmoordpreventie, so jump on it! If we have any left after the event, we might add them to our webstore. But don’t take that chance and buy your ticket ánd buy this amazing print!

I was designing new stickers for Library Card and it seems my fear of facism weighs heavily on the subconscious. I think about the upcoming elections and I’m afraid. I’m afraid of the increasing amount of facism, racism, xenophobia, femicide, inequality and oppression. I’m afraid of not being able to make well-informed and ethical choices, I’m afraid of losing community, I’m afraid of becoming blind to my own privilege, I’m afraid to walk the streets at night. I’m afraid of turning a blind eye to all the horrors happening simultaneously because everything is too overwhelming, I am afraid of not being able to help others because we’re barely holding on ourselves. I’m afraid our rage will divide us instead of unite us, I’m afraid I don’t know how to navigate this properly, I’m afraid of giving in to my own rage and my own fears because I fear they will consume me at some point if I do. The list goes on. I do implore you to vote tomorrow. I do implore you to strengthen your community wherever you can. I do implore you to take care of those who cannot take care of themselves, and to let yourself be taken care of when in need. We cannot let them win. I am afraid to be hopeful but we cannot give up. by @vacantlotstudio
