Our little city wedding moment. A beautiful day of love, laughter, and intimate conversation where we really got to spend time with our people and with each other. What started off as trying a random dress on at a vintage store turned into an idea to take a moment this year, our wedding year, and really acknowledge how far we have come.

Greg, I love you with every bone in my body. Thank you for indulging my sometimes crazy ideas and playing along for our Midcentury city wedding so we could dress up and run around together. May we always laugh like this. May we always love like this. May it last forever.

Thank you to our families who flew in, our friends who took the day off to spend it with us. We can’t wait to do it up in October.

It is the greatest privilege of my life to bring the Silambam ideas about dance and who gets access to it to New York. We believe that Bharatanatyam is a universal language and have been spending the last many years experimenting in different formats.

Bringing this dance play to New York with my mom, my sister, and an incredible group of women is the icing on this cake.

Dr. Srimathy Mohan is the founder and director of Silambam Phoenix and a senior disciple of Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy. She is one of the co-conceivers of Dasamahavidya alongside Sangitha Kalanidhi Shri R.K. Shriramkumar and Smt. Priya Murle. This version makes Dr. Mohan’s continued exploration into the intersection of Bharatanatyam and theater as twin art forms. She is excited to be back with the New York community to bring forth this new version.

VAIBU MOHAN is a writer, musician, dancer, director, and producer specializing in bringing South Asian forms of storytelling and theater making into the Western sphere. She is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer and Carnatic musician and currently serves as the Associate Artistic Director of the Silambam Phoenix dance school, where she frequently collaborates with her mother Dr. Srimathy Mohan

As a writer, Vaibu is the recipient of the 2025 June Bingham Commission from Live and in Color where she is developing her play Bound To You (National Playwrights Conference Semi-Finalist). Her Tamil bilingual drama, Adi-Antham, received a residency slot at the 2025 New Harmony Project. She is the winner of Atlanta Opera’s 96 Hour Opera Competition and her full length opera, Jala Smriti, premiered at Atlanta Opera in 2026. Vaibu is also the librettist and producer of Sati: Goddess Incarnate, a musical epic which has been developed since 2023 with Silambam Phoenix.

As a musical theater bookwriter, lyricist, and composer, Vaibu has had her work performed at Lincoln Center. 54 Below, Greenroom 42, La Mama Theater, Caveat, and Midnight Theater. She is a graduate of the NYU Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program

Miriam Anderson is a Bharatanatyam dancer from Birmingham, Alabama, and a disciple of Smt. Sheila Rubin of Natyananda and Vidushi Rama Vaidyanathan of Ganesa Natyalaya. She recently returned from India as a 2025–26 Fulbright–Nehru Scholar, w taken in Gibney by @vaibumohan
