A few from Courtney and Craig’s wedding last month.

After photographing quite a few weddings this summer, one thing I’ve noticed is that couples often worry about the photos far more than they need to.

Everyone wants great photos.

That’s completely normal.

But the best photos usually aren’t the ones where you’re thinking about the camera.

They’re the ones where you’re focused on each other.

Having a laugh.

Enjoying the day.

Talking to your friends and family.

Actually being present.

Obviously it’s important to choose a photographer whose work you like.

But I think it’s just as important to choose someone who helps you feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera for most of the day.

That’s usually when the best moments happen.

A few previews from a styled shoot I took part in last week.

This opportunity only came about because a space opened up for an additional photographer.

I’m really glad it did.

And even more glad that I said yes.

One thing I’ve learnt over the last couple of years is that you can watch all the YouTube videos you want, read all the articles and spend hours trying to learn something.

But for me, the biggest improvements have always come from actually doing it.

Getting out of my comfort zone.

Meeting new people.

Trying things I haven’t done before.

And occasionally chucking myself in at the deep end.

I always seem to learn the most in those situations.

It was great to meet everyone involved and these are just a few previews while I work through a fairly long editing list.
